SHIBUMI: Chad Stahelski, 87Eleven Lining Up Assassin Novel Adaptation

Chad Stahelski continues to accrue even further projects to hopefully adapt for the big screen, his latest being Shibumi, with 87Eleven Productions partners Alex Young and Jason Spitz on board to produce, according to Deadline. Published in 1979, the novel by Trevanian (the pseudonym of Rodney William Whitaker) details the struggle between the “Mother Company,” a conspiracy of energy companies that secretly controls much of the Western world, and a highly skilled assassin named Nicholaï Hel. Casting details remain pending with a writer yet to be put in place, as Stahelski engages his latest action star-studded endeavor with the fourth chapter of the John Wick franchise. Deadline is reporting that the next chapter of John Wick will have Hiroyuki Sanada on board for the cast. ARCANA: ‘Predators’ Writers Set ‘Gritty Urban Fantasy’ At Lionsgate, Chad Stahelski To Direct

Chad Stahelski has a great thing going with Lionsgate following the success of the John Wick franchise thusfar. He’s got television AND feature spin-off in the works, on top of two more back-to-back movies to culminate the hitman pentalogy, in addition to a new incarnation of Highlander, AND he’s producing a new take on CJ’s The Man From Nowhere for New Line. His prospects continue to grow this week and Mike Fleming Jr. at Deadline reveals one such property in Arcana, described as “a gritty urban fantasy set in the hidden world of magical clans”. Predators writing duo Michael Finch and Alex Litvak wrote the spec script which is now in the hands of the studio, and will exec produce; Stahelski will produce out of 87Eleven Entertainment with Jason Spitz and Alex Young will produce. The production of Lionsgate’s May 17, 2019-dated John Wick 3: Parabellum has already taken to Morrocco according to recent reports and as it turns out, the additions to its cast have all but continued. As GWW’s Omega Underground notes, actor Saïd Taghmaoui has joined the cast, albeit in an undisclosed role for the third-outing of director Chad Stahelski’s epic assassin opus that once more sees title actor Keanu Reeves as the former gangland enforcer fighting his way out of the crosshairs of the global assassins’ network that now wants him dead following the events of the second film. Comic book movie news remains this week as Chad Stahelski is up to direct Analog, the Image Comics sci-fi series that launched in April. Production is already underway and confirming previous rumors of late is actress Halle Berry asserting her place in the cast.
