Just shy of confirming a fourth film, director Chad Stahelski spoke to Entertainment Weekly adding his thoughts on the possibilities after next year’s third entry in the John Wick franchise:
“I enjoy making these movies because there’s no limit,” says Stahelski. “We create our own mythology, and we have a studio that both stays out of our way and supports us on the wacky decisions. If people go see the movie, and it makes money, and they came back to us, Keanu and I have ideas for days. I could live here for the rest of my career. If people like it and want to watch more, I could think of way worse ways to spend your career. But, you know, we’re in the entertainment business. We’ll let the audience figure that out.”
So basically, apart from the Derek Kolstad-penned Ballerina, the currently-brewing TV series development of The Continental, John Wick clearly has some more killing to do. This, and who knows who else could be a worthy add to the ensembe mix of drama and action talent for future films? The skyline has so far measured limitlessly as to the casting and that they’ve even revived Mark Dacascos should say something, and apart from doing Iron Chef, he’s been off the ranch for sometime now which makes his role as a badass named Zero in John Wick 3 feel like a nice, warm homecoming.
EW also released two brand new stills from the film showcasing starring actor Keanu Reeves and actress Halle Berry. Reeves reprises his role from the inaugural 2014 hit film and its even harder-hitting 2017 sequel that now sees our titular hitman forced to fight his way out of New York City agaisnt his former home society of assassins.
Also starring among the ensemble cast are Asia Kate Dillon, Anjelica Huston, Ian McShane, Lawrence Fishburne, and so many more awesome people you’ll spot in the movie for its May 17 release.
