There’s been some cool stuff rumbling online with all things Disney in the wee hours of Monday and one of them, Tira, has been making the rounds for the new teaser trailer now online. The eight-episode series coming in 2023 is based on the burgeoning Bumilangit Cinematic Universe of comic adaptations, which currently includes the theatrical releases of superhero thrillers Gundala in 2019, and with actress Pevita Pearce in Sri Asih.
In the mood for some superhero thrills and excitement beyond borders? Fans are welcome to try their luck with Indonesian superhero property Tira who now gets her own eight-episode live-action series on Disney+ Hotstar beginning next year.
If you’ve been pressing your finger on the pulse between fan blogs since earlier this year, chances are that you might have caught a blurred glimpse of the first poster for the new Mo Brothers-directed thriller, Headshot. Well, we are only days away from the film’s premiere heralding the return of action star, actor Iko Uwais, and with him, the acclaim so rightly deserved by Indonesian cinema for its accomplishments in the action genre as of late.
Thus, the Toronto International Film Festival will be where the movie makes its first stop with Uwais leading along with actress Chelsea Islan, Julie Estelle and Sunny Pang among the cast for a gritty, brutal tale of vengeance and redemption for a mysterious man forced to confront his past following a brutal head injury. The film has since finally landed a pristine, high quality version of the aforementioned poster ahead of its TIFF premiere, and you can now take a look below courtesy of ScreenAnarchy.
Long after the acclaim of last year’s Indonesian film prospects with horror thriller, Killers and action crime sequel, The Raid 2, it comes with great pleasure to finally see more coming out of the woodworks from the other side of the globe.
Indeed it was Killers co-helmer Timo Tjahjanto who was poised to direct the currently-shelved gangster thriller, The Night Comes For Us with the involvement of fellow cohorts Gareth Huw Evans and action star Iko Uwais doing principal fight choreography. However, with that title tentatively on the backburner while Uwais and Evans branched out to other projects since then, it looks like anyone who enjoyed Killers will surely be in good company now that Tjahjanto and partner Kimo Stamboel are back together and working on their newest actioner, Headshot from SCTV and Screenplay Infinite Films.
Uwais himself is designing the action as well as starring with actress Chelsea Aslan and a cast currently in training and looking more and more impressive before further announcements are made in addition with later plot details. Tjahjanto and Stamboel, often pennamed as the Mo Brothers in the press, reigned supreme back in early 2014 when Killers premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, as did The Raid 2, directed by Evans.
Uwais previously completed filming the upcoming sci-fi action sequel, Beyond Skyline for next year prior to pre-production work on Evans’s currently-developing action flick, Blister, as well as starring alongside Ronda Rousey and Mark Wahlberg in Peter Berg’s Mile 22 for STX Entertainment.
Headshot is expected to begin filming very soon with locations set for Jakarta and Batam while tentative for delivery in 2016.
