DOCTOR STRANGE: Zara Phythian And Friends Take To Cineworld In The UK For The Local Martial Arts Community

Marvel

EXCLUSIVE: Director Scott Derrickson’s latest contribution to the Marvel big screen fanfare, Doctor Strange, finally opened its mystical doors to the U.S. on Friday. The film is also available in the U.K. where it opened late last month and is certainly bolstering the martial arts community some where martial artist and lovely in-person individual to meet, actress Zara Phythian hosted a screening of the film to help raise awareness for the upcoming three-day WMKF World Martial Art Championships in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire starting on November 11.

Phythian, who co-stars as one of of the film’s principal villains under actor Mads Mikkelsen, was on hand at the screening to discuss the event along with several other martial artists. She appears at the tail end of the video just beneath the press announcement after the jump, and in tow of others speaking on behalf of the new Marvel film, including stunt performers Rob Ho and Bao Tieu, and stellar martial artist and one of my new favorite friends in all of life, actress Katrina Durden.

Former multiple martial arts world champion turned movie actress, the UK’s Lady Dragon – Zara Phythian played host at a special red carpet screening of one of her latest films, Marvel’s ‘Doctor Strange’.
The special screening took place at Cineworld, Nottingham, England on Sunday 30th October, and was sponsored by The Massage Chair Company, WMKF England and Zara’s Personal Best Academy, in aid of local athletes competing at the WMKF World Martial Art Championships (11th – 13th November 2016)

Within 48 hours of tickets going on sale on facebook alone the event was sold out which took Cineworld and Zara by surprise so within days they had arranged for a second screen to run to cope with the demand and that too quickly sold out.

“It was amazing, both the team and myself were overwhelmed by the support but it was also weird” says Zara.. “ I’d recently attended the Doctor Strange event at Westminster Abbey plus a premiere of Doctor Strange in 4DX at cineworld in Birmingham yet I was more nervous about what the kids from the academy thought of the film here at this screening than anything else“

Joining Zara on the red carpet was fellow actress & Zealot from the film, Katrina Durden plus special guests from film and martial arts such as Actor & World Champion Lee Charles, Actor Dave Wong, Stunt Performer Bao Tieu, Actor David Cheung, Actor Sia Alipour, World Champion Owen King, Actor Rob Ho, Actor Adam Collins, Martial Art Masters Anthony Pillage, Clive Harrison, Rachel Harrison and Juliet Williams, as well as many friends and families of the PBA Martial Art Academy and of course the PBA Kidz athletes competing in Malta.

Special mention to radio DJ and stunt man John B Tannen who interviewed the stars on the red carpet.
