CMC Pictures is taking the reigns with select releases in multiple territories for action adventure, Moscow Mission. Rejoiing screen leads Andy Lau and Zhang Hanyu since Feng Xiaogang’s A World Without Thieves and Zhang Yimou’s The Great Wall, director Herman Yau’s latest is based on a true story set in 1993, and centers on a pair of Chinese detectives on a mission to hunt down ruthless robbers plaguing the trans-Siberian railway with violence and chaos. Actors Huang Xuan, Jason Gu, and Janice Man also star for the film’s October 5 release in U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the U.K. and Ireland. The film opens in China this Friday, September 29.

CMC Pictures is extending the reach of Sam Wong’s new crime thriller, Man On The Edge. The film, starring Richie Jen and Simon Yam will release in the Chinese mainland on April 15, as it will now in select theaters in North America, Australia and New Zealand. In order to investigate the truth behind the gang’s drug trafficking, the undercover policeman Luo sir is caught in the whirlpool of gang competition and police conspiracy. He fights bravely with the hidden forces, and eventually reveals a shocking political conspiracy. CMC Pictures has slated a February 18 release in North America for director Xiaozhi Rao’s new crime dramedy, Endgame. The official trailer is up and running as well with release dates set for February 12 in Singapore, and February 25 in Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Peep the gallery above as new key art was unveiled this week as an official announcement for Dante Lam’s long-awaited action thriller, The Rescue, now stakes a pre-Christmas December 18 day-and-date release from CMC Pictures in China, North America, the U.K., Australia and New Zealand. The move comes after an extenuating delay for the film among other titles due to the ongoing pandemic. Early screenings gave the film rousing reviews prior to its previous Chinese Lunar New Year release for January at the time, then pushed to December and ultimately delayed again. Reportedly two years in post-production according to Variety, director Lu Yang (Brotherhood Of Blades, Brotherhood Of Blades 2) is back in the headlines with long-awaited fantasy actioner, Assassin In Red. Long since incidentally having to wait out the Covid-19 pandemic that all but paralyzed Chinese film production until about month ago, the new film is currently readying a Lunar New Year release set for February 12, 2021. In order to find his missing daughter, Guan Ning accepted a secret task from Tu Ling to assassinate an internet novelist. As Guan getting deeper involved in the mission, he found out that the novelist has an ability to influence the real world through his writing. There’s a parallel world connected to the reality. Assassin In Red stars Lei Jiayin, Yang Mi and Dong Zijian, is produced by Ning Hao, and backed by CMC Pictures.
UPDATE #2: On Thursday, Well Go USA signaled its own tentative delay of their U.S. release of animated Ne Zha sequel, Jiang Ziya. The movie was to premiere this weekend in China, with the Planos-based Texas distributor slating a February 7 release. The move falls in line with other planned releases overseas from China for Lunar New Year titles as China continues to mitigate its ongoing crisis with the deadly coronavirus outbreak. Well Go USA has issued the following statement: Because of contractual obligations, Well Go USA must postpone our release of the film as well.
