In the past decade or so, there’s been a distinctive breath of life on the upper East coast of North America where the independent action filmmaking is gradually coming together. Director, action choreographer and Ninjutsu expert Franklin Correa remains part of those efforts, putting forth a vision for film that focuses a little less on stylish martial arts action and more on gritty execution of techniques through fight scenes, most notably made exemplary in his previously released thriller, Flash Drive, now available on DVD. I have seen my fair share of these fan fights over the years and a pretty good handful of them are able to do the trick of replicating much the same excitement based a particular fight scene, be it through the choreography or overall pacing and tone. Turkish director Alper Çağlar‘s new hitman crime thriller, Panzehir, has been on the move promoting itself for several months now with several trailers and videos online for a while, with the most recent teaser and subsequent English-subbed trailer forwarded at Twitchfilm. And this week, we now have a new extended clip loosely translated as “Other Blood” which showcases a little more of the film’s dramatic intensity, accompanied by some heavy-hitting action near the end which you can take a look below the synopsis.
