As a martial arts fan, I’m looking forward to seeing how good director Dean Isrealite will make actor Dacre Montgomery look in the forthcoming Ameritoku vehicle reboot, Saban’s Power Rangers in March next year. For now, at least one other prospect lies with Stranger Things, a series that has grown immensely popular since its July premiere on Netflix and with a vibrant cast and a tone akin to the phenomena of 80s cult sci-fi, horror and suspense. It’s been well over two decades since Japanese Tokusatsu took America by storm with Saban’s own Fox Kids programming in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and the show itself has spawned a vast, almost nebulous evolution all its own. The costumes, powers and stories have remained ever evolving, turning it into a cultural phenomenon that has done wonders for the comic con community and martial arts fans alike. Thus, it’s only fitting that Lionsgate take to their audience with this weekend’s presentation of the film along with a cast and crew Q&A for director Dean Israelite’s upcoming iteration, Saban’s Power Rangers. Back in full force this week is director Dean Isrealite’s new movie, Power Rangers, now ready to make its presence known at Comic Con International: San Diego ahead of its release next year. As such, the campaign continues as we slowly inch toward a teaser, with a slow and steady rollout of posters and images to bask in – one now coming courtesy of USA Today revealing a new image of our cast in costume. Check it out: The film takes its cues from the 1993 Ameritoku crossover series titled close to the same name for Fox Kids prior to feature film adaptations thereafter. It was about a month or so ago that Lionsgate and Saban announced they began testing actors for the upcoming 2017 tokusatsu reboot, Power Rangers. The show has gone on for well over two decades crossing over Japanese sci-fi and fantasy lore to North American TV audiences in 1993 and since moving into Hollywood territory with at least two films in 1995 and 1997. The two companies announced the reboot in May of 2014 long prior to finally attaching a director in the form of Earth To Echo helmer Dean Israelite with a release date currently stamped for January 13, 2017.
