STRANGER THINGS: Season Two Adds Sadie Sink, ‘POWER RANGERS’ Star Dacre Montgomery And More
As a martial arts fan, I’m looking forward to seeing how good director Dean Isrealite will make actor Dacre Montgomery look in the forthcoming Ameritoku vehicle reboot, Saban’s Power Rangers in March next year. For now, at least one other prospect lies with Stranger Things, a series that has grown immensely popular since its July premiere on Netflix and with a vibrant cast and a tone akin to the phenomena of 80s cult sci-fi, horror and suspense.
Created by Matt and Ross Duffer and executive produced by Shawn Levy, viewers witnessed as the mysterious disappearance of a young boy gripped a small town to its knees with the emergence of a supernatural being and a dark government conspiracy. And at the center of it all, a young boy, his two friends, and a young girl on the run with extraordinary telekinetic powers whose destinies ultimately collide in a multi-angular coming of age tale that went above and beyond expectactions.
Anyone who has since watch all eight chapters now on Netflix will know those expectations are still unknown, though the finale certainly hints that the upheaval is but a ways from done. However, THR is reporting the addition and return of several faces to the cast of the second season, greenlit as of August, including the aforementioned Montgomery who is set to play Billy, a Camaro-driving, edgy and hyper-confident teen who is great at drinking games and charming the ladies – all a façade under which lies a penchant for violent behavior.
His role will be joined by actress Sadie Sink in the role of Max, Billy’s younger step sister whose personality and image carry much more boyish traits and pursuits to accomodate her suspicious approach to others. Billy and Max are two of a trio of new characters being poised to lead the second season along with a third by the name of Roman, all in place of characters Mike, Lucas, Dustin and Eleven, portrayed respectively by Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin and Gaten Matazzaro and Millie Bobby Brown.
Actor Noah Schnapp, whose pivotal role as Will in season one is reportedly expected to return as a series regular along with actor Joe Kerry who plays Steve, boyfriend to Mike’s older sister, Nancy, played by Natalya Dyer. Further casting and production details remain pending.
