Wanted Man opens in theaters, On Demand and on Digital beginning January 19 from Quiver Distribution. 2024 will mark twenty years in the director’s chair for Dolph Lundgren, an actor, martial artist and well-rounded entertainer who has contributed tons of fanfare to cinema in the last several decades, joining the prominent cadre of leading professionals in action cinema since the 80s. That mission – cancer battles be damned – continues with Lundgren’s eighth directorial effort on both sides of the lens in Quiver Distribution’s latest thriller, Wanted Man, with a script by himself alongside Hank Hugues and action cinema vet Michael Worth. For this, we get a film that dives right into the profile of a deplorable police persona embodied by a seasoned California police officer and his small circle of “good old boys” both active in, and retired from the force. This comes right after an opening scene in […]
Actor Dolph Lundgren’s latest upcoming New Year release now brings forth an official trailer for Wanted Man, from Quiver Distribution. Lundgren stars and directs the new crime thriller from a script he wrote with Michael Worth, and for a cast that joins Lundrgren with Kelsey Grammar, Christina Villa, Aaron McPherson and Daniela Soto-Brenner. Johansen (Lundgren) is an aging detective, whose outdated policing methods have given the department a recent public relations problem. To save his job, he is sent to Mexico to extradite a female witness (Villa) to the murders of two DEA agents. Once there, he finds not only his old opinions challenged, but that bad hombres on both sides of the border are now gunning for him and his witness. Wanted Man opens in theaters, on Demand and on Digital from January 19. Watch the official trailer now!
Shout! Studios will release action comedy Showdown At The Grand in select theaters and across all VOD platforms beginning November 3. The film stars Terrence Howard (Iron Man, Hustle & Flow), John Savage (The Last Full Measure, The Deer Hunter), and Piper Curda (Legacies, The Wretched), with Amanda Righetti (The Mentalist, Reagan) and Dolph Lundgren (Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, The Expendables franchise). A proud movie theater owner, George Fuller (Howard), must defend his family business from corporate developers alongside a legendary action star, Claude Luc Hallyday (Lundgren) as art imitates life in a showdown for the ages. Orson Oblowitz directs this, his fourth film following The Rules For Success, Trespassers and 2017 crime drama The Queen Of Hollywood Boulevard. The official trailer is out now and I was quick to catch a banner near the end that read “Filmed In Oblovision” which I thought was pretty hilarious, that is. […]

Murray, will release on DVD, Blu-Ray and Download-To-Own beginning November 7. The German Navy and the last remaining U-Boats were brought together for one last mission – to attack the United States Homeland, Operation Seawolf. Captain Hans Kessler, a grizzled submarine commander from both World Wars, is called into service to make the mission a success and help turn the tide of the war. Starring Hiram A. Murray (The Terminal List), Dolph Lundgren (The Expendables franchise) and Frank Grillo (Avengers: Endgame), Operation Seawolf is a thrilling adventure written and directed by […]
Christian Sesma seemingly never stops working. A self-taught filmmaker, Sesma has been directing since 2006 at an incredibly productive rate. In that time, he has completed (and found distribution) for more than twenty feature-length genre films. His prolific nature and continued success in getting his work actually seen have led him to be a director that genre acting stalwarts want to work with. This is perfectly showcased by his latest project (and strongest directorial effort to date)— the hard-hitting action film SECTION 8. The cast features Ryan Kwanten (TRUE BLOOD), Dolph Lundgren (ROCKY IV), Dermot Mulroney (YOUNG GUNS), Scott Adkins (UNDISPUTED 3), and Mickey Rourke (THE WRESTLER) in a story about a military veteran (Kwanten) who, after losing his wife and child, is unwittingly pulled into a shadowy world of government-sponsored assassins. I had a chance to speak with Christian Sesma about SECTION 8 ahead of its release today. We […]
Since before I’ve covered his work, Sesma has been one of the hardest working directors to pop up my radar and has slowly but surely increased his profile a little more over the years, working with names like Jason Mewes, Luke Goss, the RZA, Val Kilmer and Michael Jai White to name a few. That it took as long as it did to finally get to share space with action stars Scott Adkins and Dolph Lundgren is probably a crime in the eyes of some, but perhaps a blessing in others, considering that some good things in life deserve a wait. That wait now brings us Section 8, penned by Chad Law and Josh Ridgeway with a cast led by Ryan Kwanten, who plays Jake, an ex-soldier now working in his uncle Earl’s (Mickey Rourke) garage as a mechanic struggling to support his wife and son. Suddenly, his life gets […]
Filmmaker Steven Luke (WAR PIGS) is one of many creatives working in the realm of DTV. He has learned two valuable lessons about how to get noticed in the glut of low-budget titles that appear consistently throughout the year though. The first is to use recognizable, yet reliable, actors that can draw attention when placed on a cover. The second is to have a niche that appeals to a dedicated fanbase. What is that for Luke? Historical war dramas (with a bit of action sprinkled in) like his latest: the World War Two naval battle film OPERATION SEAWOLF, featuring Dolph Lundgren (CREED 2), Frank Grillo (COPSHOP), and Hiram A. Murray (THE TERMINAL LIST) in prominent roles. Take a look at the trailer: Here is the official synopsis: “In the last days of WWII, Germany, desperate for any last grasp to defeat the allied […]
It’s high time for RLJE Films as the newest action thriller from director Christian Sesma sets its sights this month with Section Eight, starring Ryan Kwanten, Dolph Lundgren, Dermot Mulroney, Scott Adkins and Mickey Rourke. After avenging the murder of his wife and child, a former soldier is sent to prison with a life sentence. He’s given a shot at freedom when a shadow government agency recruits him for an off-the-books assignment, and he soon realizes Section 8 isn’t what it seems. The film also stars Robert LaSardo, Tracy Perez and Justin Furstenfeld and is slated for a same day theatrical and AMC+ streaming release on September 23.
Years ago, I became obsessed with listing my “top-tens” or “fives” in final fight scenes. There was a UK website that produced such lists and for their final fight scene list, it bothered me for the longest time that it never had the one featured in Drive between Mark Dacascos and Masaya Kato, so you can imagine how fulfilled I felt when the page loaded and I finally saw it listed. That website has long since disappeared, but the practice of listing fight faves stands strong among the action genre fandom to this day. Thus, I felt compelled to just list my own top ten in final fight scenes just to feel it out some and see what folks think. For this, I applied several factors into this analysis; While choreography and cinematography are both important elements, I made other deductions as well which include the scene’s connection to the […]
Published November 29, 2021: I can’t fully imagine the struggle actor Scott Adkins must have faced at one point trying to branch out as something more than an action figure to the genre moviegoing masses. For this, I’ve always hoped he would become more actor-centric than anything, but it’s especially nice to know that his next (and even bigger) break isn’t too far off in Hollywood. Whatever thoughts come to mind with respect to his career up to this point though, you may now relegate your analyses to the throes of Adkins’s newest reunion with Universal Soldier: Regeneration, Legendary and The Expendables 2 top-liner, Dolph Lundgren, in contained heist thriller, Castle Falls, one in a number of productions that survived the harrowing Covid-19 pandemic last year with a production shutdown that allowed safety protocols to matriculate for its restart much later. Sitting Lundgren on both sides of the lens as […]

Personally I think it’s about damn time Dolph Lundgren’s latest action thriller got some promo art that didn’t echo the initial sales imagery introduced earlier on with Scott Adkins’s bearded look from The Expendables 2. At least now we have something that looks more conducive to what the movie is truly to put forth and for that, the actual, OFFICIALLY official U.S. trailer for Castle Falls is circulating online as we speak – following its international trailer roll out last week – ahead of its day and date release on December 3 from Shout!. After decades of neglect, Castle Heights Hospital, this symbol of the city’s segregated past has been packed with dynamite and is ready to be demolished. No one knows that a gang leader, now in prison, hid the 3 million dollars in cash he stole from his rivals inside the abandoned building. Now, three desperate parties want […]

Featuring our leading men in a variety of exciting scenes, the trailer sets up the viewer for a thrilling chase for millions of dollars in cash. After decades of neglect, Castle Heights Hospital, this symbol of the city’s segregated past has been packed with dynamite and is ready to be demolished. No one knows that a gang leader, now in prison, hid the 3 million dollars in cash he stole from his rivals inside the abandoned building. Now, three desperate parties want the money – a blue collared ex-fighter (Adkins) who finds it while working as part of the demolition crew, a prison guard (Lundgren) willing to do anything to pay for his daughter’s cancer treatment and […]

In a sequel-heavy landscape, the age old idea that a follow up could never be as good as the original has been dispelled over and over again. It’s fairly common for the third, fourth or even fifth entry in a franchise to be somebody’s favorite. Still, after the disastrous follow up to Roland Emmerich’s Universal Soldier, one could be forgiven for assuming that any further installments wouldn’t be worth seeking out. I was one of those people. I spent quite a few years seeing DVD covers featuring the weary faces of JCVD and Dolph Lundgren leering back at me in video stores and would chuckle to myself and move on. It wasn’t until I dove headfirst into action cinema, DTV action and all things Scott Adkins (and with a healthy dose of rave reviews from film fans I trusted) that I finally gave these a look. Never in my wildest […]
VMI Worldwide is currently setting up to present its slate at EFM which kicks off this week. On deck among its neighbors is Castle Falls (formerly “The Castle”) which sees Scott Adkins and Dolph Lundgren (Universal Soldier: Day Of Reckoning, The Expendables 2, Legendary) back together again with the latter set to direct. Castle Falls centers on Mike (Adkins), a struggling fighter-turned-foreman working a luxury condominium set to be demolished in eight hours. He soon finds himself enveloped in a deadly cat-and-mouse game when he finds a stash containing millions of dollars – the prized subject of a relentless search between two vicious rival gangs, one led by Shea (Lundgren). THR brings the exclusive which confirms principal photography is set for March in Alabama: “This combo with action stars Dolph Lundgren and Scott Adkins is just what the buyers are looking for, and we are excited to be working with […]
