ICEMAN: THE TIME TRAVELER Review: Part Two Of Donnie Yen’s Reboot Push Defrosts With Gusto
Ask almost anyone in my circles and they’ll tell you how supportive I usually am for remakes and reboots if done right. Obviously not all remakes have worked in cinema history and it’s all but added to the stigma that permeates around current remakes either completed or already in the making.

Emperor Motion Pictures made it official this week with the announcement of Raging Fire. Donnie Yen fans hard on for another headlining gangbuster actioner after the family-tethered Big Brother will soon have their day with Enter The Fat Dragon, a nod to the 1978 Sammo Hung classic that now takes on a life of its own.
The Korean Roots of Hong Kong Kicking
The fast and precise kicks of Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Donnie Yen, and other great Hong Kong action stars are staples of the Hong Kong style of action choreography, but if we look before Bruce’s 1971 breakout hit The Big Boss, there were almost no kicks to be found in any action cinema.
Review: ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY (2016) Brings Ample Balance To An Awakened Force (Reprint)
I have to credit a large part of my nerdiness to my Dad. I remember my sister and I going over on weekends and he’d have comic books all around the house and a movie collection that could rival no other. Of course he gave us a proper education by having us watch the cult action favorites, new releases, and gems from his ever-growing collection of flicks.
STREAM THIS: Wilson Yip’s DRAGON TIGER GATE Is Now On Netflix. You’re Welcome!
The early two-thousandsies saw an essential shot-in-the-arm rebirth of Hong Kong action cinema with the pairing of actor Donnie Yen and Wilson Yip for S.P.L.. In its wake, it left fans fawning over one two of the genre’s greatest action matches in film history also featuring Wu Jing and a brutal finale with Sammo Hung, thus etching a major success for the actor/director duo as the first in a string of staple thrillers and adventures that would further make Yen into a cult-driven household name since falling short years earlier with crossover efforts, Highlander: Endgame and Blade 2.
ICEMAN: THE TIME TRAVELER Finally Thaws An Official Trailer For The Long-Awaited Sequel
It’s been four years since the release of Law Wing-Cheong’s Hong Kong action classic revival, Iceman 3D. Despite its intentions and even eventually splitting the film in two due to being too long, the film ultimately grew dismal with critics – indeed, a clear sign that Donnie Yen‘s starpower and a bloated budget wouldn’t be enough next to it’s own lackluster application.
Live-Action SLEEPING DOGS Rolls Cameras With Donnie Yen In 2019
There’s at least one small update regarding actor and action star Donnie Yen’s involvement in an upcoming Sleeping Dogs movie. It was back in March of last year in a Deadline exclusive that the Ip Man franchise star was confirmed with the actor reaffirming the film’s production this past February.
THE MONKEY KING 4 Moves Forward With Development
I dropped the ball a bit on this in the past week but it looks as if The Monkey King franchise is officially back on track for a fourth film.

In the meantime, Big Brother seems like a feasible and worthwhile few hours at the movies, especially after finishing its world premiere run at Fantasia Festival, whose Chu King-Wei programmed it as so:
BIG BROTHER: Donnie Yen Faces A New Battlefront In The Official Trailer
Donnie Yen, without question, has had his work cut out for him as of late. Nonetheless committed to not letting his fans down for another few years, his latest, Kam Kar-Wai’s Big Brother stands to gain plentily for the martial arts movie crowd and now with a full trailer that lays in with all the Donnie Yen-style-fuck-you-up-ness that audiences may get a thrill out of.

MULAN: Donnie Yen To Make A Man Out Of Our Heroine In The Live-Action Adventure
Beyond recent progress on Big Brother and Enter The Fat Dragon and the production start of Ip Man 4, time will tell what lies ahead for actor and action star Donnie Yen. That said, if Mike Fleming Jr.’s exclusive at Deadline is any indication, a starring role in Disney’s own live-action version of Mulan is very likely to soon follow.

Yen is joined by Jess Liaudin who plays the menacing taxi driver in Julien Seri’s Night Fare next to Boyka: Undisputed villain Brahim Acchabkhe, as well as Craig Miller of The Brothers Grimsby fame and Tanigaki Kenji serving up the fight action with a release currently pending.
Much focus on the narrative will be on the educational aspects and backdrop overall as Yen has promised in interviews and posts prior. That said, you can still bet this will be a solid sell to the fanbase as folks now get to sample in the first teaser below. Peep it!
