Lee Kyu-man’s fourth feature now out in the U.S. from Echelon Studios brings us an adaptation of a hit Japanese crime novel published in 2006 which was later adapted for TV Asashi in 2009. For this, we get a two-hour introspective crime epic in The Policeman’s Lineage that introduces the time-honored tale of two very different kinds of cops who land themselves en route to a whole lot of trouble. The film opens with a footchase in a dark and murky street in the rain that results in the death of a cop and his killer getting away. Echelon Studios is taking the wheel for director Lee Kyu-man’s thrilling new crime drama, The Policeman’s Lineage which bowed in Korea back in January. The film stars Choi Woo-sik (Parasite) and Cho Jin-woong (The Handmaiden), along with Park Myeong-hoon (Parasite), and Park Hee-soon (Apple TV+’s “Dr. Brain”) for the film’s digital, VOD and cable releases on June 7. Parasite’s Woo-sik Choi stars as Choi Min-Jae, a rookie police officer and a man of principle, who teams up with Park Gang-Yoon, the chief of an investigation team that has an unrivaled arrest record but includes corrupt methods. Together, the two very different policemen dive deep into a massive case that shakes the police force upside down. The Policeman’s Lineage is produced by Lee Han-seung (The Tower), and exec produced by Jung Hyun-joo (The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil). The film’s cable, digital and VOD releases will be held by Comcast, Charter-Spectrum, […]
