Elba May Tackle Demonic Forces In New 'Poe Must Die' Trilogy

Actor Idris Elba has become a cult fan favorite for action stardom as of late, having largely been favored, and even confirmed through Sony’s hacked emails as a potential lead successor to the longstanding 007 franchise as James Bond. Whether or not that remains to be seen is a mystery in and of itself though, as the actor moves on with other ventures in film and television, but if film is more your speed, then look no further than his latest effort from his own banner, Green Door Production Co.

Active in development now is actor Elba‘s latest effort in the form of a new trilogy based on author Mark Olden’s 1978 publication, Poe Must Die, and possibly with the aim to portray the title character. Set in New York City in the 1840’s, the book sees its title character, a stoic hero battling a myriad of supernatural forces in addition to mitigating his own internal conflict, pairing with a renowned fighter to avenge the murder of the fighter’s wife at the hands of a sorceror seeking the Throne Of Solomon to claim immortality and control over Lucifer.

Elba‘s slated March filming for his televised return in BBC America detective series, Luther, along with roles in Cary Fukanaga’s war drama, Beasts Of No Nation, Pierre Morel’s The Gunman with lead actor Sean Penn, and his reprisal as Heimdall in Avengers: Age Of Ultron are among things to look out for as the year roles on. As for Bond, well with Spectre up and running, don’t hold your breath for any early announcements. As always, time will tell.
