International sales outfit WTFilms have made available several photos and initial market artwork for Escalation, the new action crime thriller reuniting director James Mark with actors George Tchortov and Chris Mark. The film, which screened for buyers in Berlin in the past week, is produced by Bruno Marino (Enhanced), and also reteams the helmer a fourth time with writer Matthew Nayman, who co-wrote with Brett Caron.

Highland Film Group revealed a first look at director Audrey Cummings’s (Netflix’s hit comedy drama “Ginny & Georgia”) new Western thriller, Place Of Bones. Highland is at EFM this week repping world sales on the pic which recently wrapped its Los Angeles production featuring Heather Graham (Half Magic, The Hangover), Tom Hopper (Netflix’s “The Umbrella Academy,” Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard), Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone (UFC welterweight and mixed martial artist, The Equalizer 2, Netflix’s Spenser Confidential) and Corin Nemec (Showtime’s “Stargate SG-1,” Joe Baby, Run Hide Fight).
Cameras have begun rolling in Australia for crime thriller, Sleeping Dogs, casting Karen Gillan to join the Russell Crowe starrer from Nickel City Pictures partnering and Highland Film Group. Casting additions also include Marton Csokas (The Lord of the Rings trilogy), Harry Greenwood (The Nightingale) and Thomas M. Wright (Universal Pictures’ Everest).
Making the rounds from Thursday at the European Film Market is the new mystery action suspense thriller Generalprobe 7. Yukihiko Tsutsumi (2LDK, 20th Century Boys trilogy, The Big Bee, Hope) directs from a script by Keita Kawajiri, the cast is led by Kairi Miura with a release date set for April 21.
Director Rod Blackhurst’s (Netflix’s Amanda Knox, Peacock’s “John Wayne Gacy: Devil in Disguise”) new action thriller, Blood For Dust, is currently in post-production and offering a first look photo which you can catch above. Starring are Scoot McNairy (Warner Bros.’s Argo, 20th Century Fox’s Gone Girl, Universal’s A Quiet Place Part II), Kit Harington (HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” Eternals), and Josh Lucas (20th Century Fox’s Ford v. Ferrari and Paramount’s “Yellowstone”).
New Dimitri Logothetis action thriller Gunner is casting up as of Thursday with the addition of Morgan Freeman according to a new news release. The Academy Award-winner whose credits partly include Million Dollar Baby and The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, joins lead actor Luke Hemsworth with a script by Gary Scott Thompson (The Fast and The Furious).
Fans of actor Liam Neeson are less than a week away from Briarcliff Entertainment’s release of Neil Jordan’s new crime thriller, Marlowe. In the meantime, you’re welcome to add The Riker’s Ghost which has both Neeson and Jordan reuniting once again with production set to commence in September.
Momentum is picking up for Born Of War and Close helmer Vicky Jewson’s Ballerina Overdrive, which is launching ahead of the EFM market with The Veterans repping international and CAA for domestic. The project is revving up as a hot action package at this point as Jewson, who recently directed The Witcher: Blood Origin, is being joined by Kelly McCormick, David Leitch and Annie Marter who will produce the pic via 87 North, the company behind action Kate, Bullet Train and Violent Night to name a few.
Production is set to start this spring in Minnesota as Hannah John-Kamen (Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp and the upcoming Thunderbolts) and Theo Rossi (FX’s “Sons of Anarchy,” Emily the Criminal) are both set to star in the new sci-fi thriller, Rachel. The film will be directed by Jenn Wexler who debut-directed SXSW horror film The Ranger and is completing post-production on The Sacrifice Game, starring Mena Massoud and Olivia Scott Welch, and is written by playwright Vincent Delaney.
Folks can currently get a first look at UK action thriller Jackdaw in the image above, directed by TV vet Jamie Childs (The Sandman, His Dark Materials). The pic is fully financed and repped by Anton for international sales this month at EFM, with a cast led by Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Jenna Coleman.
