POWER RANGERS On Track To Feature Film And TV Treatments, Jonathan Entwistle To Direct Both

Three years later, Lionsgate’s efforts toward rebooting Ameritoku franchise IP, Power Rangers, remains with just Dave Green’s 2017 adaptation. The film did well at the box office, though the earnings weren’t enough to motivate a sequel going forward. Nonetheless, efforts to keep Power Rangers alive for the big screen haven’t waned in the least, with Hasbro taking the mantle with rights from Saban Films in 2018. It’s been twenty years since the highly popular Dungeons & Dragons made its first of several ventures into film. The influential role-playing game from TSR, Inc. and Wizards of the Coast is now back in the news just as Entertainment One (eOne) officiated its first look agreement with producer and former Marvel Studios executive, Jeremy Latcham. The move follows eOne’s acquisition by Hasbro who began their purchase last summer and completed in December to the tune of $3.8 billion. eOne’s announcement on Wednesday touts that the move will further power eOne’s ability to produce wide-appeal film and television content designed for a global audience from Hasbro’s vast library of IP. At long last, director Christian Gudegast’s highly anticipated Den Of Thieves sequel has an official with Den Of Thieves: Pantera, currently making the sales rounds at Cannes for eOne’s Sierra/Affinity. The sequel was announced last February in the weeks that followed the first film’s January rollout from STXfilms, firstly developing in 2003 between a few studios. Den Of Thieves overperformed up to $57 million dollars by its third week and ultimately grossed upwards of $80 million dollars by the end of its run. Two-time Academy Award-winning actor Mahershala Ali is set to star in a new sci-fi film, Sovereign. Plot details are being kept under wraps according to the latest press announcement sigaling the film from Entertainment One (eOne) and 21 Laps Entertainment. Seven years after the 2008 film, Rambo, reinvigorated fans of the classic action franchise led by actor Sylvester Stallone, Deadline is now reporting that the languishing fifth film that’s been in developement for some time now is indefinitely on hold. Instead, eOne will be internationally representing the developement of a TV series that’s also been long in the works in the last few years and will produce along with Millenium Films. Stallone’s name is being circulated as the likely prospect of the new show titled Rambo: New Blood, marking a possible return to the character alongside an actor who will play ex-Navy SEAL, J.R., Rambo’s son. If you at all worked on Hollywod stuntman and debut director Nick Powell‘s period action epic, Outcast in some capacity, I can imagine how you may have been feeling ever since Chinese premiere was delayed late last year at the very last minute. Moreover, there are still no answers as to why that was even the case, though all we have at this point is more blurry speculation with regard to China’s crackdown on smut or the disapproval at the number of screens it will get. Thankfully however, the film was re-slated last November for a premiere sometime this month. So, case closed, right?
