Will Yick Delivers Espionage, Danger And Action Chops In The New Series Trailer, DISAVOWED
A little slice of intrigue, a dash of danger and a touch of deadly hand-to-hand combat can make for nice little online gem, particularly arriving soon in the form of independent filmmaker and actor Will Yick‘s new webseries, Disavowed. A purveyor of Filipino martial arts for six years, the series is an inspired product by Yick who wanted to incorporate comprehensive storytelling and acting with his own personal knowledge of military, having served both in the Navy and Army.
Yick also directed, produced, edited, co-wrote and designed action sequences for the new series which he says will be much more character driven than some of his previous work. “I didn’t want to oversaturate the series with too much action this time around.” he says. “My goal was to have a balance of drama, plots and sub-plots, and enough action to get people interested, although I won’t always use this formula always because I love action. So, in the future, I will definitely incorporate more action.”.
Yick has a few other surprises in store for indie action fans this year with several projects to come, while Disavowed finishes production on just a few more episodes left to its 19-episode slate – each episode ranging from two-to-five minutes upon its upcoming air date. To keep track of the series, head over and subscribe to the official Facebook page until then. In the meantime, watch the new series trailer and stick around for more info.
Loyalties will be tested within a government agency as the lines between right and wrong become blurred.

Ronda Rousey Joins THE ATHENA PROJECT!
As UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey maintains herself in the competitive world of mixed martial arts sports, she is also continuing her hot streak this year as a rising film actress just off of shooting her scenes for Fast And Furious 7 and The Expendables 3. Reports from Variety indicate that not only is Rousey set to star in the theatrical feature-length adaptation of the HBO show Entourage, but Warner Bros. has obtained the rights to New York Times bestselling author Brad Thor’s 2010 publication, The Athena Project for the actress to lead.
The official plot is unknown, but the following summary of the book itself provides a close-enough idea of where the film is headed:
The world’s most elite counterterrorism unit has just taken its game to an entirely new level. And not a moment too soon…
From behind the rows of razor wire, a new breed of counterterrorism operator has emerged.
Just as skilled, just as fearsome, and just as deadly as their colleagues, Delta Force’s newest members have only one thing setting them apart—their gender. Part of a top-secret, all-female program codenamed The Athena Project, four of Delta’s best and brightest women are about to undertake one of the nation’s deadliest assignments.
When a terrorist attack in Rome kills more than twenty Americans, Athena Team members Gretchen Casey, Julie Ericsson, Megan Rhodes, and Alex Cooper are tasked with hunting down the Venetian arms dealer responsible for providing the explosives. But there is more to the story than anyone knows.
In the jungles of South America, a young U.S. intelligence officer has made a grisly discovery. Surrounded by monoliths covered with Runic symbols, one of America’s greatest fears appears to have come true. Simultaneously in Colorado, a foreign spy is close to penetrating the mysterious secret the U.S. government has hidden beneath Denver International Airport.
As the women close in on their target, they will soon learn that another attack—one of unimaginable proportions—has already been set in motion, and the greatest threat they face may be the secrets kept by their own government.
Rousey reportedly fell in love with the book after meeting the author last year while she was filming The Expendables 3 and attached herself to it before it even had studio involvement. Optimism remains high as well for this latest all-female actioner in the wake of the latest news on The ExpendaBelles on Thursday, as moviegoers now have even more reasons to look forward to watching women in action on the big screen, with Rousey paving her own road to action cinema stardom.
Rousey is set to defend her UFC title against Sarah McMann at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada on February 22, 2014 prior to shooting her scenes in Entourage this March for its 2015 release, while The Athena Project is also reportedly searching for a writer with further info still pending. In the meantime, action fans can catch Rousey among a powerhouse line-up in director Patrick Hughes’ The Expendables 3 on August 15, 2014, in addition to Universal Pictures’ April 10, 2015 release of Fast And Furious 7.

Watch The New Trailer For The South Korean Action Thriller, THE SUSPECT
The so-called “Bourne formula” designed in recent years by the likes of writer and director Tony Gilroy and Paul Greengrass seems to be the way to go for a lot of movies these days. Visually, it’s a formula that most notably works with the involvement of cuts in editing and choreography that garner the attention of a specific fan base, which is what director Won Shin-yeon seems to be doing for his latest epic fast-paced South Korean thriller, The Suspect.
A behind-the-scenes featurette trailer was unveiled earlier this month with actor Gao Yoon in full action star form, debuting in his first-ever lead role in an action movie about a former government agent on a mission of vengeance and in search of hidden enemy with nefarious plans that could threaten a nation. And on Friday this week, we now finally get to see a full trailer. So stay tuned for more information as it trickles.
Opening on December 24, 2013, The Suspect stars Yoon along with Park Hee-soon, Cho Seong-ha and Yoo Da-in, and is produced by Shin Chang-Hwan from a script by Lim Sang-yoon, with stunt coordination by O Se-young and cinematography by Lee Sung-Jae. Also, be sure to check out two recently unveiled posters for the movie below the trailer.
SYNOPSIS:
Dong-chul was the best special field agent in North Korea, but he’s abandoned by his government during a mission. While on the run, he looks for his wife and child, who were sold as slaves to China, only to discover their corpses. He soon finds out that his colleague was behind the killing and defects to the South in search of his nemesis. He looks for him during the day, and works as a temp driver at night and as a personal driver for Chairman Park. One night the chairman is attacked and killed by an assassin, but not before handing over a pair of glasses to Dong-chul. He is now on the run again, accused of the chairman’s murder by the intelligence service, while trying to uncover the secret contained inside the glasses. Little did he know that depending on who ultimately gains control of the secret, it could either become a national threat or treasure.
