Without question, the biggest stinger right out of the release of The Expendables 3 nearly a decade ago was its departure from an audience that loves its R-rated action and gore. Director Scott Waugh is here to pick up the slack nowadays having just landed on radar this summer through Netflix with Chan/Cena thriller Hidden Strike, just in time to help fans of the franchise get their action fix with a promisingly R-rated delivery of Expend4bles beginning September 22.
The campaign continues as director Scott Waugh’s September 22 release of Expend4bles now dons an official poster from Lionsgate. The film stars Jason Statham, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Megan Fox, Dolph Lundgren, Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, Randy Couture, Jacob Scipio, Levy Tran with Andy Garcia and Sylvester Stallone, with a script by Kurt Wimmer, Tad Daggerhart and Max Adams.
Barring what awaits for director Scott Waugh’s Chan/Cena experiment in Hidden Strike, it’s what comes next that will undoubtedly be an inviting feat for Lionsgate following its brimming success with John Wick: Chapter 4. Indeed, it’s the return once again of Sly and co. for Expend4bles, and with that exact spelling and tagline as indicated at last year’s CinemaCon.
