Deadline is reporting this week that IFC Midnight has acquired tue North American rights to Dutch-Maluku filmmaker Jim Taihuttu‘s latest noir crime thriller, Wolf. The film, Taihuttu‘s first solo-directorial kickoff for Netherlands-based production company Habbekrats, received mostly positive reviews since beginning its film festival circuit run at San Sebastiàn and Fantastic Fest last month.

IGN posted the new trailer for Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming October 11, 2013 release of Machete Kills. By far, it’s the sickest, most relentless trailer available for the film, promising loads of action, spectacle, wit, and gritty grindhouse gore to cater to fans of the iconic character that first popped up in trailer-only footage several years ago.
Casey Bowman has finally settled down. He’s happily married to Namiko (who is pregnant with their first child), living in Japan and teaching at the Koga dojo. While buying her a present, Casey is attacked by two punks. He shrugs it off, assuming it to be a simple mugging. But when Namiko is brutally murdered later that same night, Casey’s world falls apart. Stricken with grief and thirsty for revenge, Casey tracks down the two thugs who tried to rob him, but they can’t provide him with any clues to his wife’s murder. So Casey travels to Thailand, to the dojo of a close friend. His grief and anger are taking control of him and he lashes out while sparring with other students. When one of the students is killed in the same way as Namiko, Casey finally gets the clues he needs to track down his wife’s killer and unravel a mystery of grudges deep in the Burmese jungle.
Majid has little to offer the world. The middle son of an immigrant family at a time when immigrants are not looked upon with particular kindness, he’s freshly out on parole working a nothing job because anything else would land him back in jail. He’s a lifetime hustler, uneducated and brimming with anger, whose only real assets are his fists. So when he gets the opportunity to earn a few bucks in the ring, Majid jumps at the opportunity. His success in the ring draws the attention of local gangsters, who offer employment in an environment where his skill set will be far more appreciated.
