It was about a year ago that we caught onto Jonathan Straiton’s crowdfunding efforts for original action horror feature, Johnny Z. Having reunited with cohorts from his 2016 horror romp, Night Of Something Strange, Johnny Z is finally on the way this week with Hurricane Bridge Entertainment and Black Mandala hailing the first official teaser ahead of a 2019 festival run and subsequent release. Johnny Z is an action-horror feature film about a half human, half zombie named Johnny who’s blood holds the cure to the zombie epidemic. After escaping Nordac, an experimental medical prison, Johnny comes under the guidance of a martial arts Grandmaster named Jonray. I’ve recently put The Hit List to temporary rest but I still have my eye on certain individual projects and gems hailing from the auspices of DC Stunt Coalition. On the feature film front however, I’m also definitely looking forward to whatever lies ahead in the coming months, and Johnny Z is certainly one of them. Billed as an action horror feature that nods to films like Land Of The Dead and The Raid, the project hails from a concept pitched earlier on through crowdsourcing with Johnathan Straiton directing from Black Mandala and Hurricane Bridge Entertainment. Night Of Something Strange helmer Jonathan Straiton is looking to build on his acclaimed stature as of late. With efforts going toward the production of action horror, Johnny Z, Straiton has all the pieces to his current plan laid out with at least half of his budget already met, and the other half now needed with all the help he can his cast and crew can muster via Indiegogo. “Johnny Z” is a horror-action feature film about a half human, half zombie named Johnny who, under the guidance of a martial arts master seeks vengeance on the evil corporation that created him.
