THE CROW Set To Begin Filming In March

Things have been contentious for sometime now over at Relativity Media in the wake of the fallout over its bankruptcy filing back in July. This ultimately put an indefinite chokehold on a remake of Alex Proyas’s 1994 graphic novel adaptation, The Crow, which has been developing since 2008. Jeff Most produced the first film with Edward R. Pressman who recently objected to Relativity Media including The Crow in its slate of assets. As of this week, The Wrap brought new details pertaining to the filing which concludes that Relativity has secured the title for which a holding deal has been signed securing The Hallow helmer Corin Hardy to direct beginning March following his attachment in December 2014. MMA Revenge Drama, FIGHT VALLEY, Gets A 2016 Release

Post production continues for director Rob Hawk’s latest American Film Market entry, Fight Valley. In the meantime, its presence at AFM is servicing some good prospects this week with word from Screendaily that the film will be represented globally by Philadelphia-based Breaking Glass Pictures.  Hawk directs from his own script debuting a line-up of UFC stars, featuring Holly Holm and Cris Cyborg, and lead actress Chelsea Durkalec joining Miesha Tate in the story of a young woman on a desperate mission to investigate the death of her sister. A sequel is set to commence next Spring or Summer provided this one bodes well for audiences upon its VOD and theatrical 2016 release. A teaser is expected to arrive soon, so watch this space.

It’s pretty safe to say that actor Cecep Arif Rahman is building quite the fanbase, so I reckon any opportunity that aspiring athletes would have to train with him might be a no-brainer. Take that into consideration between now and next Monday, because a new flyer is circulating for a seminar he’ll be giving at Joining All Movement in Reseda, California: Rahman, who catapulted to cult fame in last year’s sequel hit, The Raid 2 and will soon appear in Ody C. Harahap’s latest, Skakmat, is also up for a role in Kellie Madison’s new series pending, The Gate, opposite actress Amy Johnston, as well as an appearance in Star Wars: The Force Awakens next month.

Screener Review: SPL 2: A TIME FOR CONSEQUENCES (2015)

As far as screeners go, SPL 2: A Time For Consequences marks the first time I’ll be reviewing a foreign language film that wasn’t subtitled. In that regard, the film was still a treat to enjoy from start to finish despite not getting the full context of much of the dialogue, although many of the scenes were suggestive in understanding what was happening and how, which essentially helps. Soi Cheang takes the reigns as director for the new film with returning actors Wu Jing and Simon Yam now joined by Tony Jaa, Zhang Jin and Louis Koo all toplining the cast. The film sets another high mark in 2015 for Jaa whose year went off with a bang back in Spring with Furious Seven for Universal Pictures, and Skin Trade for SC Films, so to see him in a production like this was a real treat to see next to, […]

CBS Is Bringing Back STAR TREK!

I can’t remember off the top of my head how long it’s been since Star Trek was on the small screen, but we’ve had several versions of this amazing and phenomenal show for several decades, and with the cult following it has, it’s no surprise that viewers are eager for more. Yes, another film is lined up for next year, but CBS is rebooting the show entirely for a January 2017 premiere which will head to television and stream through the network’s on-demamd service, CBS All Access. Alex Kurtzman is executive producing the new show which will boldly go and explore new life and new civilizations…though I am curious to see what will stick around and what won’t as far as Romulans and Klingons are concerned. Director Marc Forster’s 2013 adaptation of Max Brooks’s 2006 sci-fi horror novel, World War Z, did pretty well for itself in the face of a bloated budget proceeding script rewrites and reshoots. Alas, you can imagine fans of the first film were happy at the prospects of a sequel which was since announced in June that year shortly after its release. The Orphanage and The Impossible helmer Juan Antonio Bayona has been on deck to direct from a script by Steven Knight as per Paramount Picture’s original aim for multiple films. BLACKOUT Sets 'Need For Speed' Helmer To Direct

Director Scott Waugh has developed quite the audience for himself with the 2012 the Act Of Valor, and last year’s game adaptation, Need For Speed, details and specifics notwithstanding. That stated, it was enough for him to keep getting gigs, now including the new action thriller, Blackout, from Sierra Affinity. Deadline reports that Waugh will be at the helm with a script by Sidney King and tweaks by Brooks McLaren, which focuses on a cop who is put to the ultimate test when the city loses power as he’s transporting a mysterious criminal.
