Joe Cole and Sope Dirisu return for the explosive new chapter in the hit show.
Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù and Joe Cole are back to reprise their roles along with a slate of new additions, including “Warrior,” and “Boy Kills World” actor Andrew Koji!
I think Gangs Of London is probably the one series that’s recently caught my eye since it launched several years ago. Thankfully I’ve been able to screen most of the season two episodes ahead of its release here in the states five days ago, and though I’d been doing my best to cover the episodes without spoiling them for anyone who hasn’t seen the series quite yet, I think it’s safe to discuss a lot of the series revelations with fans on my own time. That especially includes folks in the UK who are currently in the market for some physical media to own in the not-too-distant future as Dazzler is proudly rolling out both seasons and the isolated second season starting next month. That means pre-orders are now available for Gangs of London: Season Two which willbarrive on Blu-ray, DVD and Download-to-Own from December 19, with Gangs of London: […]
Following my coverage of the first two episodes of the second season of Gangs Of London, I can certainly confirm that while I await the final two episodes, the next four chapters of the season only get more grim and enticing. The show is already streaming in the UK so folks overseas and anyone who can otherwise currently access it will know what’s what, but I’ll insofar disclose as much that even more twists and dark turns are on the horizon as we follow Elliot’s quest to get out, and ultimately, Marian’s fight for survival as Georgian assassin and gunrunner Koba continues his onslaught throughout London. While more is revealed about the preceding events leading into the second season, the alleged murder of Sean Wallace – played by Joe Cole in season one, it’s only a small peak and doesn’t answer the question of just what happened and why in […]
Two years since the creators of the hit series Gangs Of London brought forth the fire and tumult with an explosive and pulsating first season, they’re back with a new round of episodes that now looks to ante things up with even more compelling story progression that puts our characters to a test of their wills and gumption. It’s important to bear in mind, however, that the show’s new season two campaign is very careful in keeping things cohesive and sustained, and with folks like Gareth Evans and Matt Flannery at the drawing board, the smart play was definitely to keep the momentum going with a spectacular red-band trailer last month, with footage enticing enough to keep fans of the series hooked and curious. With the show’s UK premiere already underway, Film Combat Syndicate – based in the U.S. – can help preview the first two episodes ahead of its […]
The second season of Gangs Of London is almost here (for folks in the UK, it’s much closer as it’s arriving on October 20th), and Sky is back in the headlines to remind you just what it is you’ll be in for as the producers look to ante up the goods since the explosive, dramatic and brutal first season. How? Welp, leave it to a red-band trailer with none other than series regular Michelle Fairley to invite any and all spying an eye on their social media feeds for a fairly violent, rollicking and bloody introduction to the chaos and anarchy that awaits. Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù is back to reprise his role as well, and he signals his return in fine, fight-heavy form! One year after the death of Sean Wallace and the violent reckonings of series one, the map and soul of London has been redrawn. The surviving Wallaces are […]
Figures as much that actor Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù would now be the face of the new hit crime series, Gangs Of London, following its explosive premiere a few years ago. Recent teasers and announcements have otherwise hinted at the departure of the key season, one lead played by Joe Cole, and with Dìrísù at the forefront, it looks like things are about to get even more interesting… And by that, I mean brutally and punishingly violent! One year after the death of Sean Wallace and the violent reckonings of series one, the map and soul of London has been redrawn. The surviving Wallaces are scattered, the Dumanis broken and estranged, and ex-undercover cop Elliot is now being forced to work for the investors. To restore order, the investors have aligned behind heroin baron Asif Afridi and together they have installed a new ruling force in London in the form of brutal […]
GANGS OF LONDON, the hit television series from Sky and AMC+, has been rightfully praised for setting a new high watermark for cinematic-style action and mayhem on the small screen. The bulk of that praise has gone to the series creator, writer/director Gareth Evans (THE RAID). This tale of the violent power struggle that occurs when one of the heads of the London underworld is mysteriously gunned down was not solely shepherded through production by Evans though. He shared directing duties equally on the series with two other men, one of those two was French filmmaker Xavier Gens (COLD SKIN). Gens had the unenviable task of directing the three late-season episodes leading up to the season one finale that not only had to bring into focus all of the winding narrative plot threads setup by the earlier episodes, by Evans and fellow series director Corin Hardy (THE HALLOWS), but also […]

Also starring are Colm Meaney (Star Trek, Hell on Wheels, Layer Cake), Lucian Msamati (His Dark Materials, Black Earth Rising Kiri), Michelle Fairley (Game of Thrones, Suits) Paapa Essiedu (Press, Kiri) and Pippa Bennett-Warner (MatherFatherSon, Harlots, Sick Note). Evans, best known for sweeping audience favor with film […]
Aside from all the other names and minds brought onto help bring Sky’s latest crime series to life, Gangs Of London, it’s those of co-creators, filmmaker Gareth Huw Evans and noted cinematographer Matt Flannery who stand out the most. Being accredited for developing a film franchise with a world that exudes intrigue, suspense and heightened levels of action and gruesome horror would certainly do the trick, as it has for both veterans of Indonesian action in the last ten years with The Raid and The Raid 2. With the apparent denoument of their tenure in Indonesia, and no real iota as to what the prospects were, the announcement of a British gangster series that brought both action auteurs on board, along with Corin Hardy and Xavier Gens, to say the least, drew promise. As an original show with high-end demands for action to incorporate with the world-building drama, it also […]
Sky series Gangs Of London is currently slated for a summer Digital, Blu-Ray and DVD release in the U.K. as reported a few days ago, but the show isn’t done making headlines this week. The hit crime series, about the son of a gangster who vows retribution amidst the turmoil and upheaval within London’s seedy criminal and political underbelly, is now on par for a second season, and will be co-produced by AMC. The network has also acquired U.S. rights to broadcast the first season in a date to be announced for the Fall. Gangs Of London hails from Pulse Films and Sister Pictures, and is the brainchild of Gareth Evans and Matt Flannery, the respective director and cinematographer behind Indonesian action crime saga, The Raid and The Raid 2. It stars Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders), Sope Dirisu (Humans), Colm Meaney (Layer Cake), Michelle Fairley (Game of Thrones) and Lucian […]

The bell has officially rung as of Wednesday for Sky Original series, Gangs Of London. The series marks the latest foray for filmmaker Gareth Evans (Apostle) since his cult ascension among the action fandom proliferating then-burgeoning star Iko Uwais ten years ago. Evans is rejoined by noted cinematographer Matt Flannery, both who created the nine-part action drama which centers on a young crime org heir who sets out to restore order among the gangs while hunting his father’s mysterious killer. Joe Cole stars along with Sope Dirisu, Colm Meaney, Lucian Msamati and Michelle Fairley. Gangs Of London was also directed by Evans next to Xavier Gens and Corin Hardy, and was produced by Pulse Films in association with Sister. A release date remains pending while Sky is rolling out an official trailer for the action-packed series that shows in lucid, brutal fashion that Evans hasn’t lost his knack for delivering […]
A new report at Deadline on Wednesday cites HBO Max Chief Content Officer who told the crowd at this year’s Television Critics Association that Cinemax would not be producing any more original content. The word is also that original shows already on Cinemax would not be carried over to the new SVOD service which officially announced part of its slate and pricing late last year. Set in 1870s San Francisco, Warrior debuted last April, shepherded by exec producers Shannon Lee and co-creators Justin Lin, Jonathan Tropper and Danielle Woodrow, and starring Andrew Koji (upcoming Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins) as a gifted fighter whose efforts to reunite with his long lost sister find him deep in San Francisco’s Tong criminal underbelly as a Hop Wei hatchetman in order to survive. A second season was made official in June and was also filmed and wrapped with Joe Taslim and Dustin Nguyen […]
If there is ever a filmmaker who knows how to flesh out the best from a multilayered crime thriller, you can bet it’s Gareth Evans whose handling of The Raid films also showed multiple degrees of brutality against flesh with fight scenes that weren’t afraid to stain everything in the room red. Having recently helmed Netflix’s Apostle you can especially adhere to that fact, while Evans moves onward to the playing field of TV with upcoming contemporary minidrama, Gangs Of London. With the 10-part series now filming, trade news casting announcements are now leading off with Joe Cole, BIFA Best Actor winning star of prison Muay Thai drama, A Prayer Before Dawn, and with The Huntsman: Winter’s War actor Sope Dirisu. via THR: Set in one of the world’s most dynamic, multicultural cities — one that is torn by the turbulent power struggles of the international gangs that control it […]
Fan favorite Gareth Huw Evans is on the way with a new serial crime drama, Gangs Of London for HBO’s Cinemax and Sky Atlantic. Looking to bring a new “cinematic viewing experience” as Deadline quotes Evans, the show marks a small-screen first for Pulse Films whose Thomas Benski, Founder and Chief Executive, describes the show as the “ideal calling card” to launch Pulse’s TV slate. Readying a 2019 launch, the show is set in contemporary London, now ground zero for international gang warfare as the assassination of a crime boss initiates a power vacuum that uproots the fragile peace between other gangs and sends the underworld into chaos. The show stems from an original idea from Evans and noted cinematographer Matt Flannery best known for lensing the brutal martial arts action scenes in Evans’ The Raid and The Raid 2. Pulse is producing with Jane Featherstone’s Sister Pictures co-producing. Both […]
