I have yet to get to see Soi Cheang’s recent crime thriller, Limbo. Notably though, the film continues to garner major reception even as Cheang’s latest rolls out with a cast led by Lokman Yeung and award-winning actor and NYAFF laureate Gordon Lam in Mad Fate.
Transplanting from the 70s and into the 90s millieu, Jing Wong and Jason Kwan’s latest spiritual sequel follow-up, Chasing the Dragon II: Wild Wild Bunch, is finally out with an official trailer for its Hong Kong release.
Filmart is underway in Hong Kong and with it, a raft of titles being announced and discussed, the latest including actor Gordon Lam (Firestorm) in the new thriller, Limbo. Soi Cheang of The Monkey King and S.P.L. 2 fame helms this one now under Bravos’s international sales roster in Hong Kong with Lam starring as a detective on the trail of a serial killer.
As Screendaily notes, Cheang pairs once more with producers Wilson Yip and Paco Wong with Mason Lee joining Lam as a rookie cop, with actress Cya Liu who stars as a woman assigned to the case while and burdened from accidentally killing the detective’s family. Sun Entertainment Culture, Er Dong Pictures, Bona Film Group and Sil-Metropole Organization are producing the film which earned a presentation at Filmart on Monday which includes a first teaser poster.
Take a look!
Coming off of an exciting year of hit releases like Drug War and The White Storm, actor Louis Koo is starting the year off just right with his latest appearance in the new teaser for director David Lam’s upcoming crime thriller, Z-Storm. The film has been announced for a summer release following this year’s earlier events at the Hong Kong FilMart where it was also presented by producer John Chong on behalf of Pegasus Motion Pictures who is distributing the new film.
Koo takes the lead with Firestorm co-stars, actors Gordon Lam and Lo Hoi-Pang in a riveting story of Hong Kong’s Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) and its inquiry with a charity fund embroiled in a government Ponzi Scheme that ultimately turns into an explosive life or death investigation. Actresses Dada Chan and Janelle Sing, and actors Michael Wong and Liu Kai-chi round the principle cast.
