Scott Adkins Joins Sacha Baron Cohen And Mark Strong For GRIMSBY
The hardcore fanbase of action star Scott Adkins (Undisputed 2 & 3, Ninja 1 & 2), can celebrate another career move this week involving production of the upcoming British comedy, Grimsby, which starts shooting this summer with Now You See Me helmer Louis Letterier attached to direct. Not much is known yet about how big Adkins‘ role is this time around, but fans of obscene and outlandish laughs are guaranteed a laugh or several with starring actor/writer/producer Sacha Baron Cohen alongside Mark Strong.
Sony Pictures picked up the film earlier on for a July 31, 2015 release, with Strong set to play a British black-ops spy forced to go on the run with his long-lost brother, an idiotic English soccer hooligan, played by Cohen; the latter produced the film with co-writers Phil Johnston and fellow Borat and Bruno collaborator Peter Baynham, which pretty much verifies what I said in the first paragraph. But, with Adkins starring in a film with Strong and a director known for working with action veterans like Corey Yuen, Jason Statham and Cyril Raffaelli, we’ll see if this SBC follow-up has a little something for everyone. In the meantime, we’re in the dark, but keep your eyes peeled.
Strong is set to appear with lead actor Colin Firth in director Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Secret Service this October. Adkins is poised to commense the action with lead actor and helmer Wu Jing in Wolf War and Kaos’s international crime drama, Zero Tolerance, later this year, while plans for two more films with director Isaac Florentine for Close Range and Undisputed 4 remain in development.
