More than a year since offering a look at his latest sci-fi fantasy thriller, Dream Breaker, director Han Yan is finally poised to get some theatrical exhibition later this year. With a new poster in its wake, a new trailer has since arrived hailing actress Chen Duling, front and center of the illustrious spectacle, slick action and neo-noir Blade Runner-esque visuals. As The Hollywood Reporter noted in its exclusive coverage last Spring, Dream Breaker centers on a young girl whose investigation into her father’s suicide leaves her trapped in an illegal VR game. Following its Shanghai Film Fest premiere last week, Patrick Brzeski at The Hollywood Reporter writes that Netflix users can expect Han Yan’s dazzling manga adapation, Animal World, for its arrival in the coming months outside China, having acquired all global digital streaming rights. The latest trailer for cyberpunk action sci-fi thriller, Dream Breaker, is all-but-proof of this with a cast led by actress Chen Duling who recently appeared in Hiroki Ryuichi’s Namiya novel adaptation. Actor and young talent Song Dawei also joins in for the film’s sprawling narrative which reportedly centers on a young girl whose investigation into her father’s suicide leaves her trapped in an illegal VR game.
