The film is expected to shoot in August for a 2026 release.
Ten years since birthing the online hit personality of “Tio Choko,” its creator is now ready to put the character before audiences in a commercial feature film setting!
Jon Alagoa and Shinji Ishigaki star in the new indie action short from director Aeddan Sussex.
Actor and filmmaker Michael Worth (Killing Cupid) is aiming to reunite a bevy of kung fu cinema laureates with his latest effort, House Of Fangs. The film is billed as a dark action comedy tooled as a modern action tale that harkens back to the style and sensibilities conveyed in beloved martial arts titles from banners like Golden Harvest, Shaw Brothers and Seasonal Film Corporation. Here to ante things up even further to anchor the promise of a true throwback piece is a list of casting potentials that includes Angela Mao Ying (Enter The Dragon), Dragon Lee (The Clones of Bruce Lee), Bruce Le (Enter The Game of Death), Chiu Chi Ling (Duel of the 7 Tigers), Bruce Li (Bruce Lee The Man, The Myth), Don Wang Tao (The Hot, The Cool and The Vicious) and Bruce Leung (Kung Fu Hustle). Rounding out the casting hopefuls are Michael Dudikoff (American Ninja […]
It’s been close to ten years since I’ve mentioned actor and martial artist William Joseph Hill’s name on this site. Not that he hasn’t been busy – quite the opposite, with other film projects and even getting a book published at one point. That brings us to Hill’s newest effort with Cyber Fighter, a shortfilm adaptation of his 2019 novel. Hill’s Indiegogo campaign is now up and running following completion of virtually half the film, with hopes of bolstering his proof-of-concept with enough momentum before audiences and market banners to get a feature film going in the not too distant future. Chronically underemployed and klutzy un-athletic videogame designer Brian Baldwin takes a temp job at major defense contractor Kirkman Enterprises, where he meets software programmer Humbert Cloogey who convinces him to volunteer to be the test subject for Cyber Fighter: A revolutionary new training program for military recruits. As part […]
If you’re a fan of independent filmmaker Brian Karl Rosenthal and you’re looking forward to more of his stuff since his latest derivative gorefest in Marvel Zombies vs. Army Of Darkness, you’re more than welcome to check out what he’s been up to as of late with the new slasher short, POV. Here’s a quick logline: A suburban couple attempt to survive a home invasion on the most dangerous night of the year. The project is ¾ complete and Rosenthal is nearing the home stretch with just a few more days left to go for his latest Indiegogo campaign to support just a couple more nights of shooting and post-production. He’s also accompanied supporters with an in-progress teaser and BTS photos and film stills at the Indiegogo to lend some more insight.
Actress and screenwriter Whitney Elaine Wegman-Wood (The Evil Rises, Mystery Highway) is two weeks into her latest campaign for her new short, The Last Butterflies. The project is the result of a personal journey Wegman-Wood began a few years ago stemming from a row of anxiety nightmares which compelled her to tell her story, comprised of details and disclosures all which boil down to one simple tagline as written: How far are you willing to go at the end of the world? The Last Butterflies is teaming Wegman-Wood with producer Sue Vicory of 501(c)(3) production company, Heartland Films, in addition to director Patrick Rea (They Wait In The Dark, I Am Lisa) and actor Cooper Andrews (Den Of Thieves, Shazam!). Tier-based perks are available with more info on Wegman-Wood’s story, the team involved and how to donate over at the project’s official Indiegogo page, as well as with updates also […]
Additional photography is currently underway for Artist Unknown, NYC-based filmmaker Cinder Chou’s new queer action romantic comedy starring actress Kerry Lacy. Chou’s got some behind-the-scenes footage you can check out by clicking here, while you’re more than welcome to dive a little deeper into the goings-on as Chou’s latest campaign stays the course to help provide for the film’s additional coverage and post-production costs, all of which she delineates accordingly over at Indiegogo. Artist Unknown marks a fitting debut for Lacy who’s been priming herself for physical roles for a while now as the star of her own pending shortfilm trilogy, Viola. In Artist Unknown, Lacy plays Juniper, an insecure martial artist who must find out the origins of a painting after two thieves attempt to steal it from her. Sonia Mena, Walker Hare, Darryl Lathon, and Sam Jaikaran round out the cast. Visit the Indiegogo campaign page here and feel […]
It’s not everyday you read about an independent film project that’s endured more than your average fair share of hurdles along the way. To add, Fabien Garcia’s new sci-fi thriller short, The Hunt: Savage Within, nearly two years in the making with a strenuous two-part crowdfunding effort, also had to mitigate a pre-production period hampered by more sweeping fires across California, along with a deadly viral pandemic that forced much of North America and the rest of the world into lockdown. Such are the conditions that would have anyone wonder how they could strive toward a creatively immersive goal as filmmaking, which requires an entire team of working hands. One thing is certain there: With the right team and an ample amount of supporters, it’s possible, and proudly culminates a theory that worked in Garcia’s favor to help present film fans with a new look into the hopeful future of […]
Actor, filmmaker and stunt professional Aaron Toney revealed two new images over the weekend for his upcoming independently-produced pilot, Project H, which you can view in the captioned images above. Toney made the reveal in a new Indiegogo campaign launched several days ago to help crowdfund the pilot’s post-production, after completing a five-day production slate spanning a month from mid-March. The campaign ultimately achieved its goal of $2000, having since broken past the $3600 mark (as of this article) which could potentially be used as funds toward another episode or to provide means to trek the concept to various marketplaces virtually, and help him and his team expand his reach. An official statement has not yet been made. Project H is based on Toney’s viral action-packed short, Throne, which he shot in 2014 with over two dozen performers, from a concept he drew together with fellow creatives Jason Sweat and […]
Writer and director Gregory Lamberson is currently campaigning his ninth and latest feature film, Guns Of Eden. Up-and-coming actress Alexandra Faye Sadeghian (Mr. Blue Shirt: The Inspiration) heads the cast line-up as listed on the film’s Indiegogo page which has a little under three weeks left as of this post. Here’s the wind-up and the pitch: Megan Forest, a cop in Buffalo, New York suffering from PTSD after accidentally killing a fellow police officer. Megan’s partner Jeremy persuades her to go camping with himself and two married friends, Blake and Gabriella. While hiking in the woods, Megan and Jeremy witness the execution of an unarmed drug dealer and are seen by the killers. Now all four campers are running for their lives, hunted by different factions of an armed militia. Lamberson is also producing the new independent action thriller which he’s billing as “a cross between DELIVERANCE and FIRST BLOOD, […]
The past year or so has seen a massive effort for filmmaker and DC Comics veteran Dan Gottlieb for his own labor of love now in the form of I Am Omega: 1914. The project has undergone an evolution since last summer, with Gottlieb transitioning from live-action to a more bold animated storybook look. That vision is currently presented in a teaser just above which is now part and parcel to the latest Indiegogo campaign for Gottlieb to hire with a proper team of animators and creators after months of shepherding the concept himself. The campaign runs through early November as Gottlieb looks toward 2021 to help bring I Am Omega: 1914, into fruition. “To date, I have created all the content, drawn every line, and animated every frame and this project deserves a team of animators and sound engineers to step in and really bring it to life!” says […]
To simply say how exciting it is to see actors Fabien Garcia and Lohan Buson back in the saddle for a new film project, is something of an understatement. Together, they and the people under their Z-Team Films label have stood as part of the zeitgeist of aspiring filmmakers and performance artists for nearly twenty years, plying their trade online since the heydays of YouTube. They’ve since plied their trade in numerous projects, both in-house as well as with other creators, including Buson who went toe-to-toe with Iko Uwais in Gareth Evans’ blistering 2010 action drama, Merantau. They eventually etched an award-winning a moment in history with the 2015 release of their inaugural hit martial arts action thriller, Die Fighting, which is currently available in the U.S. from Gravitas Ventures. A sequel would have been the next immediate step, but Garcia and Buson are ready to switch it up a […]
Filmmaker Ranjeet S. Marwa is betting it all on his latest Indiegogo campaign these days to help make one of his biggest dreams come true with the new action thriller, Blood Rush. I first found out about this project and was astounded that a new name in the craft had emerged with such an ambitious talent roster on hand, featuring the incomparable Yayan Ruhian, Singaporean actor and action star Sunny Pang, and actor Zack Lee who has proven himself immensely as an actor capable of delivering a performance caliber worthy of audience praise. The Blood Rush campaign runs for about another month, and so I was compelled to help introduce this particular unknown director who has since continued to push his campaign in a series of videos on YouTube. For a more written record though, you’re welcome to acquaint yourselves with Marwa in the following exchange. Check it out, and […]
Indonesian action cinema will undoubtedly endure now that it’s found new life since 2009. Thus, with a new decade underway, a new era now gives rise to new, hopeful and emerging film talent as Blood Rush officially launches on Indiegogo. Ranjeet S. Marwa penned the script and will direct Blood Rush, starring Zack Lee (The Raid 2, Headshot, The Night Comes For Us) in the role of Max, a widower who has since dedicated his life to a secretive cult after witnessing the death of his wife. When his new “family” later decides they don’t want him to rest, Max’s greatest, most brutal fight is yet to come. Updates in the past few weeks have slowly been ramping up the project since Marwa, whose film credits extend to wearing multiple hats on a variety of projects in the last ten years, announced crowdfunding plans last month. And it’s as serious […]
Look up at any certain point in the history of The Hit List and you’ll be certain to spot the names, Joshua Zacharias and Bronson Cameron. They’re back in the spotlight for their Winnepeg-based Wuji Films independent film banner where they are now stepping it up with a new Indiegogo campaign for dramatic crime series, Dogma. Penned by Zacharias, Dogma is based on true events and set in New York City’s Chinatown during one of America’s biggest spikes in Chinese immigration history. Young half Chinese/American Johnny Lo is a societal outcast, walled-off by the people he once called “family”. He must soon come face-to-face with enemies on all sides, including from within, in a story that treads a bygone era of the city’s criminal underbelly, ultimately confronting the dark reality of what it really means for Asian immigrants to pursue the American dream. “This is an extremely important and personal […]
Just the latest in a process of long term independent and low-budget production, Josh Blank is pushing the needle along with Two Gunned Saint, presently with a crowdfunder to help carry the film’s vision until wrap. For now, he’s setting the preamble to the feature with Stervyatnitsa, featuring Mika Hockman in a short assassin tale set six months prior to the events of the the movie. Blank is releasing that shortfilm online, and has done so in association with his Indiegogo campaign as he looks to also acccrue funding for festival circulation. Hockman joins actor Jason Berry and actress Monika Godlewska for the feature thriller which also has itself a teaser, as well as plenty more info you can find at the campaign. Director James Campbell is currently on the way with western thriller feature debut, The Moonshine Gang Of Cheyenne. That project already brandishes a cool retro poster for the kind of period era it takes aim at, which also speaks to Campbell’s intentions for his hopeful second offering, Tiger Man. Campbell is developing the film firstly as a proof of concept to shoot next year, and is conceiving the project with actor Paul London. The crux? A film titularly inspired by a hit song from music legend Elvis Presley that sees the king of rock ‘n roll himself take on a criminal organization he suspects is responsible for the death of Bruce Lee. Actor and stunt performer Danny Darwin (Nightshooters, The Division) is set to play a villain. Campbell’s Indiegogo pitch video promises combination of visual and aesthetic tropes from hit films Hard Boiled, Enter The Dragon and Face/Off, and he’s got a […]
Independent filmmaker and actor Franklin Correa is making some important moves in 2019. One will be to move to Georgia from his current home in New Jersey where he’s taken on numerous trades as both a decorated Ninjitsu instructor, a chef, as well as a filmmaker founded on self-sustainance and community involvement. That move will include bringing his craft to the city of Atlanta for the production of action horror, Nocturnal. Joined by fellow film cohort, Grandmaster Robert Parham, the film – ten years in the making – sees Correa as an ex-bodyguard to one Josiah who finds himself targeted by a vampiric cult out of Cape Verde in West Africa looking for dracula’s heart – a relic they believe will make them immortal. Correa, best known for starring and directing in low/zero-budgeted independent thirllers such as Flash Drive, Mistaken, Lyco and upcoming indie, Manhunt which Parham exec produces, is […]
Actor and filmmaker Calvert David Miles (The Woman In The Red Dress) is setting off new strides as of late with his current 3 Strands Of Rope production, Yasuke: Descendants. FCSyndicate exclusively reported the announcement back in February which paved the way with enough time for Miles to produce a concept trailer which eventually premiered at Dragonfest over the summer. That concept trailer is now available online following Miles’ intro, and all in accordance with his latest Indiegogo crowdsourcing campaign now underway to secure the essentials before rolling cameras in January. For this, we turn to a narrative taking its cues of late from recent headline hype pertaining to the first and only recorded samurai of African descent to serve Lord Nobunaga Oda in the 16th century. I’m being told that actor Jeremiah B. McQueen (The Immortal Wars) will stake his claim in dual form therein with a present day […]
