Someone must have been keeping a close eye on actor Jack Kesy, a relatively new face in film that’s been emerging for more than a decade with several career moves in between. With sizeable credits like FX series “The Strain,” and feature titles such as The Outpost, 12 Strong, Baywatch, and David Leitch’s Deadpool 2 among those in the portfolio, that Kesy since became the new face of superhero staple Hellboy is a welcome move that ought to shine a much-deserved light on some of his other endeavors to come, namely Bang, the newest action thriller from Saban Films and Thai director Wych “Kaos” Kaosayananda. Indeed, some of Kaosayananda’s other titles of late have been hit-or-miss depending on your tastes; Dystopian thriller The Driver and revenge noir One Night In Bangkok, both Mark Dacascos-led vehicles, were palatable in their own way, although I can agree the latter fell a little more […]

Hellboy: The Crooked Man will open in UK cinemas from September 27 from Icon Film Distribution. The years continue to pass as any fan-driven hopes of another entry in to the Guillermo Del Toro lens of another Hellboy movie grow inevitably farther from reality. Both films are memorable classics while the Neil Marshall-directed 2019 drew nowhere near the success of its predecessors despite its big scale visuals and ambition. With three films now in our rearview, the latest test of potency for Mike Mignola’s Dark Horse brainchild now comes by way of Brian Taylor, who is no stranger to comic book mediums with credits on Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2011), and Jimmy Hayward’s Jonah Hex (2010). Alas, we get Hellboy: The Crooked Man, penned by Christopher Golden along with Taylor and Mignola, the latter who also served as one of the film’s exec producers. The 1959-set movie touts a […]
Director Brian Taylor’s Hellboy: The Crooked Man, debuted a brand new poster earlier this week which you can view below. On that note, Icon Film Distribution is now out and announcing a September 27 theatrical release in the UK for the adaptation starring Jack Kesy. Written by series creator Mike Mignola, Hellboy makes a blazing return to the big screen in a brand-new instalment of the global hit franchise that masterfully blends blood-soaked action with truly chilling horror. In the 1950s, Hellboy is enlisted to aid rookie paranormal researcher, Bobbie Jo Song, in the transportation of a deadly creature. However, their mission soon goes awry when an accident leaves them stranded in the forests of rural Appalachia where a small community resides, haunted by demonic forces. With all clues pointing towards witchcraft as the culprit, Hellboy and his allies must hunt down the source of this evil – the ‘Crooked […]
Last week saw the first glimpse at actor Jack Kesy as the titular role in Hellboy: The Crooked Man, the new movie releasing in theaters later this year. EW’s Christopher Holub brought the exclusive with a teaser featuring Kesy in full garb, as adapted for the screen by director Brian Taylor who co-directed 2006’s Jason Statham action romp, Crank. Based on the comic-book miniseries of the same name by Mignola and artist Richard Corben, Hellboy: The Crooked Man is set in the 1950s and costars Adeline Rudolph (Resident Evil) as a rookie agent of the BPRD (the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense) who teams up with Hellboy to protect the residents of Appalachia from the creepy Crooked Man, who is collecting souls for the devil. Hellboy: The Crooked Man also stars Jefferson White, Leah McNamara, Joseph Marcell, Hannah Margetson, and Martin Bassindale among those cast. Ketchup Entertainment shared the […]
There hasn’t been much information circulating about director Wych Kaosayananda’s new film, Bang. Thankfully, Film Combat Syndicate can now discuss the upcoming action thriller with some much-needed exclusive info and a selection of behind-the-scenes stills courtesy of the director. Kaosayananda, whose previous efforts at the helm partly include Mark Dascascos starrers The Driver and Once Night In Bangkok and the notable WB 2002 release Ballistic: Ecks VS. Sever, directs from a script by Peter M. Lenkov and Ken Solarz. What’s more is the film sees burgeoning star Jack Kesy in the lead role just as he’s about to make headway in the comic book arena as the new Hellboy for Millenium Media. In Bang, Kesy stars in the titular role of a stone-cold hitman who, after surviving a near-fatal attempt on his life, becomes a target himself after betraying his crime organization in search for redemption. A young woman and […]
Time will tell how Donald and Stephen Glover’s animated foray with Deadpool will bode. For now though, a June 1, 2018 release date looms for 20th Century Fox’s R-rated Marvel successor, Deadpool 2 following last year’s hit with Ryan Reynolds returning to star. Thusly, news from Deadline confirms the addition of The Strain series and upcoming Death Wish co-star, actor Jack Kesy for the likely role of Black Tom Cassidy, a noted X-Men antagonist who can manipulate and bond with plant life as well as charge energy through a shillelagh – or a wooden-like walking stick (I can hear Wade Wilson’s shameless cripple jokes already.) Josh Brolin is time-traveling supersoldier Cable while actress Zazie Beetz debuts the role of luck-bending killer Domino. Stephen Kapcic will return to voice-over X-Men member Colossus next to actress Brianna Hildebrand reprising as Negasonic Teenage Warhead. Morena Baccarin will return as Vanessa, Wilson’s love interest. […]
