THE PURGE: ELECTION YEAR Comes Home Starting Next Month!
It has been two years since Leo Barnes (Frank Grillo) stopped himself from a regrettable act of revenge on Purge Night – the 12 hours of lawlessness. This year, the annual ritual comes at the eve of a heated presidential election with the nation deeply divided between those who are pro- and anti-Purge. As head of security for Senator Charlie Roan (Elizabeth Mitchell), Leo’s mission is to protect her during her controversial and contested run for president. But when a betrayal forces them onto the streets of Washington, D.C. on the one night when no help is available, they must stay alive or both be sacrificed for their sins against the state.

Survive The Night When THE PURGE: BREAKOUT Hits Your City!
The first installment of The Purge got some mixed reactions by critics when it was released last year. I personally enjoyed the first and look forward to the sequel, The Purge: Anarchy when it releases later this summer.
Bearing this in mind, those who enjoy the dystopian future America that writer and director James DeMonaco has crafted will get to endulge the experience first hand in the form of what is being described as an “immersive real-life horror escape-experience” when Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions launch “The Purge: Breakout” this summer. The official press release below has all the details:
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., May 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — The Purge: Breakout, an immersive real-life horror-escape experience, will travel throughout the United States this summer, offering fans an opportunity to step inside the world of the film franchise The Purge, Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions announced today. The Purge: Anarchy arrives in theaters nationwide on July 18, 2014.
In The Purge: Breakout, it’s the annual Purge Night, when citizens across the country exercise their right of anarchy. Your group is being held captive by a demented psychopath, 30 minutes before The Purge begins. Trapped in his house, groups must work together—solving a series of increasingly complicated, mind-bending puzzles and clues—to breakout from captivity and survive the most terrifying 12 hours of the year.
“Our goal with The Purge: Breakout is to bring the universe of The Purge films directly to the audience,” said Jason Blum, founder and CEO, Blumhouse Productions. “This experience allows fans across the county the chance to immerse themselves in the intricate world that the series’ writer/director, James DeMonaco, has so painstakingly crafted. We hope that they enjoy being scared out of their minds.”
Based on popular escape-room adventures taking Asia and the United States by storm, this mobile attraction will be set up in unique locations across America, fully immersing visitors into a horror experience like no other.
The Purge: Breakout tour begins in Atlanta on May 30 and travels to Miami, New York City, Philadelphia, Chicago and Dallas throughout the summer. Its last stop will be from July 11 – 20 in Los Angeles.

THE PURGE: ANARCHY Takes The Fight Outside In The Official Trailer
Writer and director James DeMonaco‘s is cranking it up this summer for the forthcoming release of The Purge: Anarchy. Following up the success of the first film which released last year, the sequel now takes the battle to the streets of a not-too-distant future America where in order to sustain record crime lows and economic highs for the rest of the year, the government decriminalizes all crimes, allowing the nation one night of virtually complete lawlessness.
All hell breaks loose, body counts ensue, and its every man, woman and child for himself. And its the perfect setup for a film franchise that has something pretty good going for itself, in my opinion. I enjoyed the first movie for its gritty delivery as an action-horror piece, and I believe this one is well on its way to a impressive second act.
As noteworthy mention, both films bare the name of blockbuster filmmaker Michael Bay, who produced both movies, as well as the forthcoming release of the Jonathan Liebesman-directed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – the latter of which fans far and wide are still sorting their opinions on since Thursday’s first teaser, which I completely understand. In the meantime, with The Purge: Anarchy set to take affect this summer, hopefully you saw the first and enjoyed it as much as I did. If not, you may want to do so in order to catch up.
