This October, worlds collide!…
It was back in 2017 when actor Jared Leto was eyed for a role in a possible start of development for a third installment of the Tron franchise at Disney. That’s not to say that developments of a new chapter haven’t been without their share of hurdles after more than seven years, and now, word over at Deadline has it that a new film with Leto starring and producing will move forward this August in Vancouver. As Mike Fleming Jr. writes, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales helmer Joachim Rønning will direct Tron: Ares from a script by It Runs In The Family scribe Jesse Wigutow. Plot details are unknown but the film is described as a sequel to Top Gun: Maverick and Oblivion helmer Joseph Kosinski’s 2010 installment Tron: Legacy. That film follows Steven Lisberger’s inaugural 1982 sci-fi, Tron, featuring Jeff […]
Fresh off the comic book pages of another Marvel IP, the official trailer is out and about for Safe House director Daniel Espinoza’s new film, Morbius. Tackling the classic antihero for the big screen is actor Jared Leto whose last inglorious comic book outing as Joker in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad didn’t bode too well with the masses. Here, he gets a character all his own and with plenty of meat on the bones to fill up the bellies of fans still pining for more of what Sony can pony up from its Spider-Man and Venom millieu. One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be […]
Anyone following director Miike Takashi’s movement in the last several years eventually came across news of what would have been HIS take on post WWII yakuza crime tale, The Outsider. By 2013, it was financed and ready to roll cameras in the following year when Miike left as well as its chosen actor at the time and having since reshaped itself a few years later with Martin Zandvliet at the helm for lead actor Jared Leto, The Outsider is now a forthcoming reality with a March 9 release exclusively on Netflix. The new period crime thriller sees Leto starring as a American solider imprisoned by the Japanese during World War 2. When he succeeds in escaping with the help of his Yakuza cellmate, his freedom lures him into the dangerous criminal underworld, leaving him obligated and in service of the Yakuza in order to earn their respect amd repay his […]
I’m pretty sure Denis Villeneuve’s latest offering to sci-fi contemporary spectacle, Blade Runner: 2049, is selling itself these days. The reviews have all been faring largely well and intial box office numbers are looking toward $100 million dollars globally, which is properous for the most part. Best of all is its director is possibly in line to helm one other of Hollywood’s biggest franchises in 007 – this after earning vast favor with moviegoers on the hit 2015 crime thriller, Sicario. Personally, the first Blade Runner was a bore but I can understand its filmic and generational influence in entertainment for why it’s revered as a classic. I believe it’ll pay off very nicely if the critics’ reviews are anything to say for it. The trailers are a great emulation of what’s to come as are the three shortfilms preceding the new sequel from Villeneuve and directors Watanabe Shinichiro and […]
It hadn’t hardly been a week following the latest announcement of a Joker origin film now in the works at Warner Bros. with Todd Phillips directing. Nevertheless, that’s not stopping the studio from moving in on the popular DC Comics property with another addition to the DCEU that brings Suicide Squad’s Jared Leto and Margot Robbie back together on the big screen. Focus and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot helmers Glenn Ficarra and John Requa are tapped to direct the film which THR reports with a mix of inside sources describing it both “a criminal love story” and “an insane and twisted love story. When Harry Met Sally on benzedrine.”. Leto is in final negotiations with the studio as is Robbie who herself has been attached as the studio’s favorite fan pick following her portrayal of the iconic villainess whose romantic comic book history with Batman’s longstanding archnemesis dates back to the early 1990s. […]
With Sony Pictures still brewing their Valiant Comics slate, this week’s update now has actor Jared Leto up for the title role of Bloodshot in a new feature adaptation. Dave Wilson, Deadpool director Tim Miller’s partner at Blur Studios will be making his feature debut as of March with Original Films’s Neal Moritz and Toby Jaffe producing with Valiant’s own Dinesh Shamdasani. Upon confirmation, Leto’s role will see him as Angelo Mortalli, a ruthless mob enforcer ensnared by both the family and the Witness Protection program, only to be subject to an experimental program involving the use of cutting-edge nanites to reconstruct his brain and body, turning him into a superhuman killing machine equipped with enhanced strength, speed, endurance, and healing. Bloodshot was created by Kevin VanHook, Don Perlin, and Bob Layton in 1992. Matthew Vaughn and Jason Kothari on as executive producers. The film is just the second of a five-film plot building […]
IDGAF. I’m still keen on director Joseph Kosinski’s Tron: Ascension concept. I’m keen on hi he highlighted during a recent Tron: Legacy screening and I want Oliva Wilde returning as Quorra, because it only makes sense… …but then again, what do I know? Apparently the folks at Disney have other likely plans for a threequel that won’t likely involve any direct storytelling from Kosinski’s film. Instead, it may focus on a character called Ares to be played possibly by actor Jared Leto whose name was mentioned back in 2015 before its Vancouver production plans were curtailed that Fall. THR reports that Leto and his producing partner Emma Ludbrook could both be involved if all works out. Justin Springer, who co-produced Kosinski’s Tron: Legacy and executive produced Kosinski’s 2013 sci-fi, Oblivion, will produce. The film currently sits without a director. Leto still may have further prospects pending his run as Joker […]
Warner Bros. may not be off the hook when it comes to the negative critical reception of their DCEU releases, including director David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, even with its latest global box office milestone of over $500 million dollars. Either way though, it hasn’t put a dent in co-star Jared Leto’s career, even as news of the eccentric actor’s on-set behavior continues to circulate. Thus, his next venture will now be next to Sicario helmer Denis Villeneuve for the upcoming sci-fi sequel to director Ridley Scott’s 1982 neo-noir fantasy thriller, Blade Runner from Alcon Entertainment. Alcon provided their latest announcement below for Leto’s addition which finalizes casting ahead of its theatrical release next October. Academy Award winner Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club) is set to join the previously announced cast of Alcon Entertainment’s BLADE RUNNER sequel which includes Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla […]
Actor Jared Leto is already putting out some awesome vibes with a solid look for today’s iteration of classic DC villain, The Joker, for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad which opens in August. He’s a solid actor and thankfully this bodes well in time for Land Of Mine helmer Martin Zandvliet’s forthcoming English-language debut, The Outsider, from Waypoint Entertainment and Limson Entertainment who are financing. The new action thriller sees Leto starring as a American solider imprisoned by the Japanese during World War 2. When he succeeds in escaping with the help of his Yakuza cellmate, his freedom lures him into the dangerous criminal underworld, leaving him obligated and in service of the Yakuza in order to earn their respect amd repay his debt. Andrew Baldwin, writer of the upcoming Idris Elba actioner, Bastille Day, wrote the script with Waypoint’s Ken Kao and Linson’s Art and John Linson producing. Production for […]
Last year’s San Diego Comic Con trailer for director David Ayer’s DC Comics adaptation, Suicide Squad, drew anything but a mere whiff from fanboys and fangirls. Point in fact, it was one of the best and most received AND most trailers by far next to Tim Miller’s Deadpool, otherwise hyped by their respective leaks. Ergo, what you see is a show of proof that Warner Bros. has something really good on its hands, and it’s finally coming to theaters on August 5. It’s a bit of a wait, but the promotional campaign has only just begun with a slew of posters finally making the rounds on top of today’s first official team poster from Yahoo!. And as necessary as it was, we now have a full new trailer to accompany our journey into DC territory with Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice coming in March and Wonder Woman coming next […]
Director David Ayer‘s pending adaptation of DC Comics property, Suicide Squad, is currently awaiting a production start date beginning next year in April through September in Toronto, Canada according to THR. With that in mind, any and all information on casting has been developing and trickling for the past few months now, particularly with lead actor Will Smith in talks, and actor Jared Leto who’s been busy playing coy with the press on all talk related to his addition to the cast as the Joker. It was probably obvious to some, but nevertheless, Warner Bros. decided to lay skepticism to rest in an official announcement on Tuesday which you can check out below. The current working title will be Bravo 14, with pre-production set for February; As a noteworthy mention, previous reports may indicate further casting additions, which still remain speculative at the moment. For now, read on! BURBANK, Calif.–(BUSINESS […]
