Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans are set to star in The Gray Man for Netflix, according to Deadline‘s Mike Fleming Jr.. The film further reunites Evans with directing duo, MCU favorites Anthony and Joe Russo, and screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. The update comes following years of the IP’s languishing development, firstly at New Regency, and most recently at Sony under the stewardship of The Russo Brothers as of 2015 via The Tracking Board. At the time of that particular report, actress Charlize Theron was circling the project, and no word of it is mentioned in Fleming Jr.’s new report. The film is based on the 2009 novel from Jove Books – the first of a four-novel set from author Mark Greaney – and centers on “a deadly duel between killers as Gentry (Gosling) is hunted across the globe by Lloyd Hansen (Evans), a former cohort of Gentry’s at […]
Actor Michael B. Jordan is still poised to take the lead in a revival of classic heist pic, The Thomas Crown Affair. For this, there’s word from Deadline that Marvel movie directors Anthony and Joe Russo may be in the running to helm the project. As Mike Fleming Jr. notes, the news comes just as the two sibs, founders of their AGBO label, inked a deal with MGM and officiated “a multi-film non-exclusive creative partnership to co-develop, co-produce and co-finance a slate of projects” from the MGM library. Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway starred in the title role in the 1968 flick from director Norman Lewison. The film centers on a billionaire businessman/career thief who ensues a romance with a beautiful insurance investigator when his latest job lands him on her radar. Director John McTiernan remade the film with a different ending in 1999 at the time with Pierce Brosnan […]
The Russo sibs – Joe and Anthony, are at the helm once more and have made fine work of the Avengers end of things since taking over after the second and third Captain America films. Their hands have been involved with other projects but that hasn’t deterred them from continuing to craft one of the best, most extraordinary and memorable film franchises to date within the MCU, and they’re back again to bring the journey closer to its end with Avengers: Endgame, following the harrowing fracas of Infinity War and the casualties thereof. A culmination of 22 interconnected films the fourth installment of the Avengers saga will draw audiences to witness the turning point of this epic journey. Our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it. Of course, there are more Marvel films happening and this may […]
Once upon a time, Robert Downey Jr. got on Twitter. Alas, the rest is history as of Thursday and especially with the newest official poster tweaking the U.S. release date for Marvel’s The Avengers: Infinity War up from its previous May 4 date. Oh joy!
The 2014 release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier was an explosive piece of work from directors Anthony and Joe Russo, and one that definitively put the two on the map for attachment to other projects. Needless to say, they’ve earned quite a bit of notoriety, perhaps enough to stake a claim in other markers as well, and they did exactly that when it was announced last month that the two would root themselves in both Los Angeles and Beijing under their Anthem & Song banner with the goal of producing films for the Chinese market. “We made a lot of friends on that trip and just fell in love with Chinese cinema,” said Joe Russo according to THR. “We made a bunch of personal trips back to Beijing to nurture and grow those relationships in the film business there.” For this, it comes with the distinct and awesome pleasure […]
It’s fair to say that directors Anthony and Joe Russo have met the standard for Marvel’s take on Captain America. They proved their chops in 2014 with The Winter Soldier and all career buzz aside, their latest, Captain America: Civil War is pretty much selling itself at this point with all the positive feedback it’s now getting from early screening audiences. We’ll hear what the critics have to say in due time. Until then, the film is on a heavy quest to promote the hell out of itself with clips and TV spots. As such, Marvel is hosting a live-streaming event on Tuesday, April 12 at 6:00pm Pacific Standard Time, and the space to watch is just below where you will also spot the fresh new IMAX poster! Marvel proudly invites one and all to experience the World Premiere of Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, LIVE from Hollywood! On April […]

The new status quo fractures the […]
Directing duo Joe and Anthony Russo may be busy getting things moving with their end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe at its current state, but that doesn’t mean they’re not privy to info and means that could help other film projects. As it stands they’ve gotten their hands and eyes on quite a few things and as of this week, it includes serving as producers for the new action comedy, Sexcastle. The film is inspired by author Kyle Starks’s Image Comics 2015 graphic novel publication of the same name which reads as a throwback to action movies of the 1980s. Workaholics series helmer Kyle Newacheck is directing with said series co-star Blake Anderson in the title role for a story that centers on the world’s former greatest assassin who gets pulled back in after retiring in a small town. The Russos’ are producing via their Getaway Productions banner with Mike […]
With friends like these, who needs enemies? I suppose we’ll learn more by 2019 after the Infinity War erupts for the Avengers end of the MCU, but for now we have what’s coming to us in the latest installment of the Marvel movie saga, Captain America: Civil War. Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. return as respective title hero and Iron Man along with Sebastian Stan is also back as the formerly dead best friend-turned-enemy-turned-friend Bucky. The new teaser also shows Anthony Mackie back in action as Falcon following his previous battles in Ant-Man in addition Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Don Cheadle as War Machine, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther among the roster of our in-fighting heroes now struggling to cope in a world suspect of anyone “super” in any capacity. SYNOPSIS: Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed […]
In what might be an otherwise striking development since last week, Deadline is now reporting that actress Charlize Theron is, indeed, in talks to lead the upcoming action thriller, The Grey Man. The Aeon Flux star was initially reported for a role though it wasn’t clear if she were to star with someone else leading the film or not, while this particular update be not so surprising in an era where genderswapping roles have proven useful in bringing variety, flexibility and growth to certain productions. The film has a script by Captain America: Civil War helmers Joe and Anthony Russo, based on the 2009 novel from Mark Greaney which centers on Court Gentry, a legendary covert assassin working for the CIA until he is set up by the very people who now see him obsolete. The momentum is high for Theron who got off to a great start this year […]
Who would have guessed that actress Charlize Theron‘s role in Mad Max: Fury Road this year would lead to a string of action pictures this year? I sure didn’t, although I will say it’s delightfully surprising. Word from The Tracking Board states she’ll have a starring role in the forthcoming novel adaptation, The Gray Man, the first of a four-novel set by author Mark Greaney. The news comes roughly a year since Sony opted the rights to the 2009 publication with Captain America: The Winter Soldier helmers Anthony and Joe Russo attached to script the film based on the novel described as follows: Court Gentry is known as The Gray Man– a legend in the covert realm, moving silently from job to job, accomplishing the impossible, and then fading away. And he always hits his target. But there are forces more lethal than Gentry in the world. And in their […]

Few are missing from the cast and sooner or later we’ll know why; Honestly though, I haven’t seen Avengers: Age Of Ultron yet so I’ve been avoiding any and all talk on it before trying to see it on Friday night this week. The names have all been piling up so far since late last year with Chadwick Boseman set to play superhero Black Panther, with names Daniel Brühl and Martin Freeman making the rounds as of late until now, ending further speculation. We’re five years away from seeing how the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will play out once the second phases completes with Avengers: Age Of Ultron in May, but the best part of it all may come as a delight to fans who enjoyed the stellar reign of last year’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The word from Badass Digest (via Slashfilm) has it that filmmakers, brothers Anthony and Joe Russo will take the back-to-back approach helming the remaining two-part finale, Avengers: Infinity War, which are set to release between 2018 and 2019 in the month of May. The news comes as the Russos are about to lay claim the Spring production of Captain America: Civil War for its release on May 6, 2016 whose screenwriters, Captain America trilogy and Thor: The Dark World scribes Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely are in talks to provide the script. The directors […]
It took a bit of evolving in the course of a few hours, but the word is that actor Chris Pratt is possibly on deck to join Channing Tatum in their own all-male Ghostbusters film for Tatum to produce for Captain America: The Winter Soldier helmers Anthony and Joe Russo on board to direct with a script by Iron Man 3-scribe Drew Pearce. That film is being reported as one of four universal films conjoined by Paul Feig’s all-female Ghostbusters movie which is releasing in July of next year as both will tie in to a third followed by a fourth in the form a prequel. These efforts come courtesy of the respective director and co-star of the original, Ivan Reitman and Dan Ackroyd who are now heading what THR cites as a “Ghost Corps” to help write and develop these films over at Sony while they plot a course for […]
All comic book-related movie news remains in an on-going state of flux, which is pretty natural at this point. The studios want to keep certain things secret while maintaining anticipation among their fans which is fantastic, but also frustrating, in which case, if your name is Robert Downey Jr., then you’re playing this game perfectly. The actor, whose latest courtroom drama, The Judge, opened last week, just confirmed the developement for third installment of the Sherlock Holmes film series for Warner Bros., which is just one of a few franchise favorites among moviegoers and fans of Downey Jr. alike. Of course, you also then have the enduring and ever-expanding Marvel movie universe, which the actor kicked off in superb fashion in 2008 with Iron Man. Sure, some people might disagree with the popularity of this genre and may feel that it is getting old to a certain degree, but it […]
Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the stellar sequel to Marvel’s 2011 kick off comes home on DVD and Blu-Ray on September 9. The film is notably one of the best-received films of 2014 and with the continuation of the franchise, actor Chris Evans is expected to head down to Georgia to start filming in April next year for the May 6, 2016 release of Captain America 3 (official title pending), according to a new report from Project Casting. Other tha the possible plot involving Captain America’s cracked shield (pictured above) which went on display for The Avengers: Age Of Ultron exhibit back in July for San Diego Comic-Con, there’s no available word yet on what the Captain America 3 plot will entail. However, one actor possibly set to return is Sebastian Stan who portrayed Bucky Barnes, a.k.a. The Winter Soldier between the first and second film. Furthermore, in addition to […]
The folks at Collider dropped some pretty interesting news about The Raid remake on Saturday since the film was announced for production earlier this year with The Expendables 3 helmer Patrick Hughes tapped to direct. In an inteview with Perri Nemiroff, actor Frank Grillo delved into a number of topics, including the aforementioned film for which production was previously reported to be pushed back from this September to January next year so that the folks at Screen Gems could find a big name actor to lead, particularly shortlisting Grillo among names like Anthony Mackie, Ethan Hawke and Luke Evans to name a few. “Well, yeah. I mean, we were officially offered the film, and so that was gonna go in September and now that doesn’t go until January.” he says. “So, you know, that’s the way the movie business is. You’re officially attached until there is no more movie, you […]

On the eve of the Hollywood premiere of directors Joe and Anthony Russo‘s new film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Marvel exec Kevin Feige finally confirmed this week that the Russo brothers’ next installation of the Captain America storyline has been slated for a May 6, 2016 release date, officially pitting the film against Zack Snyder’s still-scripting Batman/Superman movie. It was also confirmed that co-star Sebastian Stan has a nine picture deal with Marvel that oddly out weighs that of lead Chris Evans‘ by just six, which does leave open the possibility for some interesting developments for the standalone film franchise as the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues onward, nonetheless. These updates remain with more ahead as Marvel prepare for the North American release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier on April 4, 2014. Evans and Stan are also joined by Anthony Mackie who has a brand new featurette at the […]
