Netflix’s adaption of classic anime Cowboy Bebop has been a hot topic of discussion ever since it’s announcement in 2017. After a rather adorable behind the scenes teaser featuring the dog cast as the crew’s beloved corgi, Ein, only a few on-set photos have accompanied occasional bits of news around the show. Early Friday, Netflix announced that the show would finally see release on November 19th. Today, Netflix ups the hype factor by dropping their version of the iconic opening sequence from the TV show. The opening features the theme song from the anime, TANK! by The Seatbelts and legendary composer Yoko Kanno, whom is confirmed as the show’s composer. The sequence features several callbacks to the original, including the appearance of other popular characters and even scenes from the anime. Other media, including several novels and a comic book series, are also confirmed in production, with the first novel […]
I don’t know about you, but if I can manage it timewise, I might just re-live the animated Cowboy Bebop series until Netflix premieres its live-action iteration of the famed space noir cult classic for ten episodes on November 19. For now though, we have stills. Not too many, but plenty to go around featuring our cast in full regalia which you can check out below, simply by tapping to enlarge. COWBOY BEBOP is an action-packed space Western about three bounty hunters, aka “cowboys,” all trying to outrun the past. As different as they are deadly, Spike Spiegel (John Cho), Jet Black (Mustafa Shakir), and Faye Valentine (Daniella Pineda) form a scrappy, snarky crew ready to hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals — for the right price. But they can only kick and quip their way out of so many scuffles before their pasts finally catch up with […]
Netflix’s long-awaited live-action series adaptation of the animated hit show, Cowboy Bebop, is slated to return to production this Wednesday, according to a Deadline exclusive on Monday. The news comes close to a year after actor John Cho (Star Trek trilogy), who leads the cast, succumbed to a knee injury during production late last year on the New Zealand set, with just a few episodes reportedly shot and completed by then. Hailing from Tomorrow Studios, Midnight Radio and anime staple Sunrise, Cowboy Bebop is based on Cain Kuga’s Kadokawa Shoten manga, and Shinichiro Watanabe’s hit anime series from Sunrise Inc. Described as a jazz-inspired, genre-bending action sci-fi tale, the series centers on Spike Spiegel (Cho) who leads rag-tag crew of bounty hunters on the run from their pasts as they hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals. They’ll even save the world…for the right price. The show also stars […]
It’s been ages since talk began of a live-action Cowboy Bebop feature adaptation, and just a few years and change as those efforts evolved into TV with Netflix acquiring the rights last November. Now we have a quartet of casting announcements from Variety with John Cho (Star Trek reboot trilogy) leading the way as Spike Spiegel. The actor will be joined by Mustafa Shakir (Brawl In Cell Block 99, Luke Cage: Season Two) for the role of Jet Black along with Daniella Pineda (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) as Faye Valentine, and Alex Hassell (The Bisexual, upcoming Amazon series The Boys) in the role of Spike Spiegel’s archnemesis and the Syndicate’s most formidable hitman, Vicious. Based on Cain Kuga’s Kadokawa Shoten manga and Shinichiro Watanabe hit anime series from Sunrise Inc., Cowboy Bebop is the jazz-inspired, genre-bending action sci-fi tale of Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, Faye Valentine and Radical Ed: a […]
