Right about now you’re waiting news over any and all pertaining to Chad Stahelski’s John Wick: Chapter Three which is still in production. This week, some of the best news to arise now sees word that Tiger Chen, Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman have all joined the production starring opposite Keanu Reeves who returns to star.
A few photos have gone viral in recent weeks seeing Chen merely hinting a presence on set but this latest update is official. The three are said to play opposite Keanu Reeves according news over at The Hollywood Reporter with Chen back on set following a starring role in the 2014 kung fu spiritual drama, Man Of Tai Chi.
It’s an update worth noting as it hopefully sets up for a larger Hollywood screen presence for all three martial arts stars who’ve seen their rise in all of the last nine years collectively, including that of Chen whose friendship dates back to production on The Matrix trilogy. Ruhian and Rahman have been earning their claim to fame as well in a plethora of Indonesian film productions such as Gareth Evans’ Merantau and The Raid films, as well as briefly appearing together in J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
John Wick: Chapter Three follows up from the 2017 sequel and its 2014 launchpad overseeing the tale of the titular former gangland enforcer whose tragic impasse with the death of a beloved dog handed to him posthumously by his late wife ensues a bloody opus of ballistic revenge and retribution that pulls him back into the life he no longer wanted. The story continued in the second film revealing more of the hidden machinations of luxury assassins’ hotel chain, The Continental, setting up a harrowing do-or-die mission for our brooding protagonist that forever ensnares him in the very eyes of his organization when he commits a cardinal sin on company ground, now off-setting our hitman hero’s daring fight to stay alive with a $14 million dollar price on his head.
Rounding out the cast are Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShane and Lance Reddick along with others announced here.
The May 17, 2019 release of John Wick: Chapter Three pretty much has everyone engaged losing their collective skulls at the moment. Production is already underway and confirming previous rumors of late is actress Halle Berry asserting her place in the cast.
Thus, she’ll be joining in with a lot for the film’s returning cast members, in addition to a wave of new names totaling actors Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShane and Lance Reddick all reprising their roles, and with actresses Asia Kate Dillon and Anjelica Huston, and actors Mark Dacascos and Jason Mantzoukas to the cast.

JOHN WICK 3: PARABELLUM Cast
The current production of John Wick: Chapter 3 was one of the biggest highlights that arose during CinemaCon last week. A teaser poster emerged which didn’t show much, and that’s fine seeing as how cameras have only begun rolling, while we did managed to learn more about what the film’s story will entail, centrally focused on our title assassin’s desperate escape from New York City with a 14 million dollar price on his head courtesy of his former auspices of international assassins’ luxury hotel chain, The Continental.
The plot will also venture into Wick’s accessibility throughout the underground which he uses to survive, and that’s about all there is to it as things stand. With production continuing through the next several months in other territories around the world, we’re bound to learn more about what this third installment will entail, including confirming the rumored addition of Kidnap star and Kingsman: The Golden Circle actress Halle Berry to the film in the role of “Sofia”, according to Charles Murphy’s exclusive this past Wednesday over at That Hashtag Show which cites the character as “woman, 20-40, who has a small child” and as one of several actresses to hopefully add to the film’s diverse population.
Actor and Asian action cinema thesp, Sanada Hiroyuki, was previously reported by ThatHashtagShow back in January before being reaffirmed by other outlets, which signals plenty about this latest update. Both, along with title star Keanu Reeves will be joined by others reprising their roles and newcomers to the franchise as Lionsgate plots a May 17, 2019 release.

Three years, two films and more than a global gross of $171 million dollars later, the fact is there’s no way that the John Wick film saga was not getting third installment. That became clearer last October as well as back in June with reports of Derek Kolstad returning to pen the script; Chad Stahelski’s involvement was still being ironed out even after sharing the helm with 87Eleven partner David Leitch for the 2014 original and debuting as a solo director on the sequel.
For this, we have new trade updates over at Deadline officiating Stahelski’s return for John Wick: Chapter Three which now has an official release date set for May 17, 2019. Casting remains pending while the most obvious of the reprising bunch will be that of actor Keanu Reeves whose portrayal of the title character – a stoic hitman forced to violently broker his wishful exit from the highly-organized criminal underworld regulated by a self-sustaining global syndicate known as The Continental, which itself is in the works for a titular television series in addition to female-centric spin-off, Ballerina.
Stahelski is also shepherding a Highlander remake and a revised TV adaptation of Rain, inspired by Barry Eisler’s series of assassin novels.
