Sylvester Stallone’s got quite a bit going on this year. He’s got a remake of a hit Korean thriller in the works as well as a new series making headway at Paramount+ later this year, and he’s also got a new role of his own now in superheroic form with upcoming action adventure, Samaritan.
This month, efforts toward Liam Neeson actioner, Retribution have taken years to formulate but the project has officially attached Predators helmer Nimrod Antal to direct. A remake of Dani de la Torre’s El Desconocido (2015), Retribution centers on a bank executive forced to complete a series of tasks whilst trapped in his car with his children, lest the captor holding them hostage via phone detonates the bomb in his car.

Director Julius Avery’s latest filmmaking alliance with producer J. J. Abrams on upcoming horror epic, Overlord, has already proven beneficial. You needn’t really look further than the final trailer now running online ahead of its November 9 release from Paramount and if the hype says nothing else, it pretty much tells you to see it in IMAX and bring a friend. Producer J.J. Abrams may not have won over hearts and minds with The Cloverfield Paradox, but that’s not stopping him from advancing further in the realm of harrowing action and horror storytelling. His latest, Overlord, pairs him with Julius Avery who directs this sprawling, grim tale of World War II paratroopers who land in France on D-Day to infiltrate a village taken by NAZIs who are secretly plotting to unleash their latest zombie experiment unto the Allied Forces.
