Lionsgate Deals A Finishing Blow With KING OF KILLERS On Blu-Ray And DVD In October!

Lionsgate is taking up arms with Blu-Ray and DVDs to send out to the masses on October 31 for Kevin Grevioux’s feature debut, King Of Killers. The film is based on Grevioux’s own graphic novel with a cast led by Alain Moussi and Frank Grillo, leading the story of an expert killer whose quest for vengeance thrusts him into the center of one man’s thirst for the thrill, having ordained himself as the “King Of Killers,” and coralling a room full of the world’s most elite assassins to challenge him for the crown and a $10 million dollar prize to boot. King Of Killers opens in theaters, on Digital, and On Demand on September 1. The casting of stunt performers and action actors in key leading roles for action movies continues to be a positively proven endeavor, especially when accomplished by the right directors and creatives behind the scenes. Do with actor Alain Moussi’s recent stint in rebooting Kickboxer for two installments what you will – those of you who read this site know full well my thoughts on those films, in addition to 2021’s Jiu Jitsu, a three-for-three disappointment count which all but took me out when it came to anything from the helmer sitting in the chair for those films. In a film market that never runs short of horror films, The Prey: The Legend Of Karnoctus has found its footing. Directed by Eric Hensman and Matthew Hensman who co-wrote the pic with Gustavo Sainz de la Peña, the film was a crowdfunded effort that’s now managed to make its landing with a story packed with the usual things you would expect in a film ripe with military action and overused plot twists, all applied with minimal effort to help draw our attention to the spectacle of an elusive creature eating its way through our would-be heroes. After making a run over at Indiegogo for post-production funds, the newest official trailer is now live for The Prey: Legend of Karnoctus, from co-directors Eric and Matthew Hensman. Stonecutter Media and Lennexe Films have announced a limited theatrical and VOD release for the action-adventure monster flick starting for a one-week run as of June 3 at the Regency Theatres Van Nuys Plant 16. The film will have its nationwide release on all major Cable VOD platforms starting June 3 before premiering on digital platforms from July 7. In the Afghanistan desert, a group of mercenaries out for treasure complete their greatest heist. Actor Frank Grillo is on the docket for several titles going forward, including a hopeful fourth chapter of the Skyline saga for which updates still remain pending. In the meantime, we can report via the trades as of Wednesday that Grillo will lead Kevin Grevioux’s King Of Killers, joining Jiu Jitsu star Alain Moussi who was firstly attached to the pic in news out of EFM last year. The news comes as Redbox Entertainment and Red Sea Media, Inc. (“RSM”) have signed worldwide rights for the pic. Inspired by the graphic novel of the same name created by Grevioux, who also created the IP for hit action horror franchise, Underworld, King Of Killers “tells a group of international assassins who are contracted to take out the most dangerous killer in the world”. The action horror genre remains ever more ripe with lycan and vampire fandom for the current four-movie installment of the Underworld franchise which began in 2003, and it was just last August that Lakeshore Entertainment stated they were rebooting the franchise with a fifth film tentatively titled Underworld: Next Generation. At the time, a cast wasn’t in place, but updates have arrived on this end and the franchise is officially going forward with two of its principal cast members. THR writes that actress Kate Beckinsale is set to reprise her role as vampire warrior ‘Selene’ with the Divergent Series co-star, actor Theo James returning as her ally, David. Eleven years doesn’t really seem too far off when recalling actress Kate Beckinsale’s portrayal of a vampire warrioress in director Len Wiseman’s 2003 hit, Underworld, on top of its fourth installment, Underworld: Awakening, just two years ago. However, the franchise has had some success over the years, and there was once a time when a then-skeptic Beckinsale may have wanted to a return for a possible fifth addition to the Vampire V. Lycan war/romance saga. Nevertheless, Lakeshore Entertainment is ordering a complete revival of the franchise once again, with Priest scribe Cory Goodman providing the screenplay for the new reinterpretation of the sci-fi horror saga, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
