In the meantime, we can report via the trades as of Wednesday that Grillo will lead Kevin Grevioux’s King Of Killers, joining Jiu Jitsu star Alain Moussi who was firstly attached to the pic in news out of EFM last year. The news comes as Redbox Entertainment and Red Sea Media, Inc. (“RSM”) have signed worldwide rights for the pic.
Inspired by the graphic novel of the same name created by Grevioux, who also created the IP for hit action horror franchise, Underworld, King Of Killers “tells a group of international assassins who are contracted to take out the most dangerous killer in the world”.
Principal photography commences in Winnipeg, Canada, later this month. Per the report, Redbox Entertainment will release the film in the US later this year day-and-date in theatres, on VoD and in Redbox kiosks.
Producers are Shane Walker and Angel Gracia for Creative Tank, and Dovetail Media’s Michael Wright and Christopher Rush Harrington, Juliette Hagopian of JuliJette Inc, Channel 56 Films, and Todd Slater of Slater Brothers Entertainment.
Redbox Ent.’s Galen Smith and Marc Danon are exec producing next to Grant Slater of Slater Brothers Entertainment, Matthew Helderman, Luke Taylor and Tyler Gould from BondIt Media Capital who is also providing direct financing for the film, and Roman Kopelevich and Roman Viaris of Red Sea Media.
Red Sea CEO Kopelevich and Todd Slater brokered the deal on behalf of the producers with Danon.
Grillo is also on the market floor via The Exchange with the recent wrap of principal photography for action thriller, Lights Out, penned by Chad Law and Garry Charles, and directed by Christian Sesma (Pay Dirt).
