I’m a little biased when it comes to some films. I’m especially keen on adaptations of Japanese mangas, given the fascinating source material and their cultural sway they’ve earned in the last century. Knights Of The Zodiac is just the latest to come out of the woodwork of Sony Pictures/Stage 6 Films, and comes with the exciting arrival of Japanese actor Mackenyu who nowadays can be seen reveling in the success of his most recent streaming episodic, Netflix’s “One Piece“.

Sony Pictures is going hard in the final weeks with its campaign to promote Tomek Baginski’s new film, Knights Of The Zodiac, and they’re following up with a bevy of promotional artwork to help build on the momentum. The artwork features the cast led by Mackenyu (Rurouni Kenshin: The Final, JoJo’s Bizzare Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable), who takes the mantle for the film’s central narrative stemming from Masami Kurumada’s hit manga, “Saint Seiya.”

[UPDATED With U.S. Poster] KNIGHTS OF THE ZODIAC Teases A Knight In Training In A New Clip

There are several clips now making the rounds for Tomasz Baginski’s newest film, Knights Of The Zodiac, the latest of which was released on Friday which you can view below. The clip features lead actor Mackenyu in the lead role of Seiya, opposite the portrayal of the Silver Saint, Eagle Marin, portrayed physically by actress and professional stuntwoman Caitlin Hutson (voiced by Asami Seto for the Japan dub release, English VO credit pending).

Tomek (or Tomasz) Baginski’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Saint Seiya, otherwise dubbed Knights Of The Zodiac, is just weeks away from its subsequent releases in Japan and then in the U.S. between now and May. For this, it’s worth noting the importance of the study of a property’s origins before passing judgment on a project based on a certain thing, and I say this, especially to the marginal and often wilfully obtuse crowd of online movie curmudgeons and fandoms who enjoy doom-scrolling and tweet fighting and rage-baiting daily.

KNIGHTS OF THE ZODIAC: Toei Animation Teases Pegasus’ Meteor Fist In New Teaser

It’s been a little over a few months since the first main teaser arrived for Tomasz Baginski’s live-action adaptation of “Saint Seiya” titled Knights Of The Zodiac outside Japan. The teaser boasts some impressive visuals with cool nods to the original manga/anime IP on which the film is based, although surprisingly it also drew some ire from a few more persnickety friends in my circle. Personally, I hope the full trailer and coming movie can change some minds and hearts this year, and until then, the campaign continues to help ramp up the excitement with Toei Animation heading up the film’s release in the far East this April hereby titled Knights Of The Zodiac: The Beginning.

KNIGHTS OF THE ZODIAC: Mackenyu Arata Leads International Debut Adapting ‘Saint Seiya’ For The Big Screen From Toei, SPWA

It feels so timely that I’ve only just seen actor Mackenyu Arata’s most recent performance in the fourth installment of the Rurouni Kenshin saga. If you ask me, considering he’s the one cast for the lead role in what looks to be a bolstering international debut with Tomasz Baginski’s Saint Seiya treatment, Knights Of The Zodiac, I’d say Baginski is in good hands.The new movie is produced Toei and Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions, and just wrapped filming in Croatia and Hungary with Arata joined by Madison Iseman, Famke Janssen, Sean Bean, Diego Tinoco, along with Nick Stahl and action star Mark Dacascos. Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken (10 Cloverfield Lane) penned the most recent drafts, according to THR‘s Borys Kit.
