I can honestly say that one thing I wasn’t looking forward to doing this weekend, among other things, was fighting a nasty cold and fever. Alas, here we are. The Hit List is always a welcome labor and thus, we begin with a playlist filled to the brim with stunt demo and training reels from today’s talents: Shawn Bernal, Natascha Hopkins, Eric Miyashiki, Luke Davis, Justin Carney, Patrick Chu, Alejandro Gil, Todd Ryan Jones, Joshua Romeo, Mike Marin, LJ LaVecchia, Linda Kessler, Diandra Stoddard, Brittany Battle, Dani Parker, Cheryl Lewis, Gabriel Lewis, Lexter Santana, Jason Elwood Hanna, Bridgette Michelle, Hugh O’Brien and Jodi Stecyk. As far as trailers go, the only one on my radar hails from Darren Holmquist whose latest short, Phone It In, is set for a March 28 big screen premiere for the Indie Shorts Showcase at the Laemmle in Claremont, CA. Click here for tickets! There […]
I’m not even halfway done with the stuff I need to get finished with but it’s been two weeks and so it’s definite time for another installment of the Hit List to help keep things kinetic and moving for our devoted stunt talents out there. Actor Rob Mars is up first in the first playlist, comprised of the usual action acting, stunt performance and demo reels from some of today’s best and brightest, and in Mars’ case, pretty damn hard hitting! The playlist continues onward with entries by Xavier Luo, Rebecca Ferguson, Daniel Himschoot, Claire Hoogenboom, Danny Rivera, Elodie Pretorious, Timothy Flood, Jose Rodriguez, Amy Schumacher, Chad Mason, Holly Dowell, Cameron Tubbs, Lauren Okadigbo, James Ortiz, Ermias Baraki, Carin Nateal, Michael Blouin, Chelsea Goldsmith, James Procelli, Jisaura Cardinale and stunt coordinator Ken Quinn. We’ve also got some trailer stuff’n things to share, first of which you can already read more […]
I had it in mind this weekend to try and review a couple of films. That effort compounded into one and mainly for all of the stunt reel and shortfilm content I absorbed. A lot of the entries I found and received were overwhelmingly good, although there was just some fat I had to cut. But… I think this is a delightful gathering! L to R (top): Jenna Hellmuth, Anthony Hoang, Sean Kohnke, Matt Healey, Stephanie Pham L to R (bottom): Alexander Burgos, Ashley Fidow, Deville Van Niekirk, Hannah D. Scott, Adam Chase Shai DeBroux is up first in a new round of stunt reels to start The Hit List for the week, and with a lively montage of material more than happily shared including her work at Sloyerstunts, Wolf Stunts and even with Vlad Rimburg to boot. Continuing the playlist are stuntman Eugene Bonislavskiy, Anthony Oh, Alexander Burgos, Gabrielle […]
Frankly, I was getting used to being away for so long that I thought about foregoing The Hit List another week into the new year. Then I realized all these reels, practice fights and shorts that were emerging as I was collecting them were piling up on me and…well… I guess now its time to relieve myself some ?. Top: Tanja Keller, Eric Watson, Sherry Rene, Tanguy Guinchard, Acei Martin Bottom: Arman Ansari, Ryan Carr, Nathan Peoples, Samantha J. MacDonald, Stephen Koepfer Alas, it’s 2018 on the evening of Monday, January 8 as of this post, thus, signaling the return of our aforementioned weekly column of said contents giving way to an audience for some of today’s top stunt performers and creatives. First up is a prime offering of two Vimeo uploads by stunt professionals, actress Tanja Keller and stuntman Paul Varacchi. The stunt hits continue via YouTube playlist starting with Jackie […]
So, as many of you know, The Defenders has premiered on Netflix and from what I can gather on social media, it has been well received. Of course people will find issues with the show as they do most shows, but I have to be honest, I truly enjoyed it. So much in fact I decided to do a follow up interview with Daredevil stunt double Chris Brewster. This will make our second interview. If you would like to read the first one, feel free to check it out here. Eric Shamm Watson: Chris, how have you been man? The last time we talked was shortly after DD: Season 1. Let’s get everyone caught up. I know one thing that has changed. Now you are a proud father of a beautiful baby girl with eyes that will put most people in a trance. Chris Brewster: Oh man! My wife and I […]
My weekend was pretty huge for movies. My thoughts on Wolf Warrior 2 are up on my Instagram as well as posts about S.S. Rajamouli’s Bahubali saga so feel free to skim those through and follow me as well as I also cross post news there. The news also includes the latest on what’s what in the weekly Hit List and we begin with a new round of stunt and training reels from around the web. Anna Akimova gets things going this week with her latest reel followed by Jake Teel, D.L. MacDonald, Tyler Street, Jessica Stafford, Graham Hooper, Andy Whitmarsh, Samuel Horowitz, Monica Lopez, Noel Martinez, Casey Michaels, Bronson Cameron, Yessenia Cossio, Aaron D. Alexander, Antjuan Rhames, Donovan Law, Ai Ikeda, Justin Mane, Lukaz Leong and Cassie Lee Minnick, along with Benjamin J. There’s a whole lot of somethin’ happening here in writer/director Jess Bryden’s debut feature, The Cleaner And The Deadman. The first extended official trailer for the Hawaii-produced indie action thriller arrived on Monday and you can take away from it what you will. It’s not a lot in terms of substance, but what it does sell is a crapton of action and spectacle; explosive gun battles and fight scenery, the usual doses of CG and green-screen tomfoolery, and Netflix series Daredevil‘s Elektra stunt double and actress Lauren Mary Kim laying waste from start to finish. Two contract killers are hired by competing cartels to hunt down an elusive drug scientist in London. After failing to intercept the scientist as he is smuggled across the Pacific, the two hit men find themselves on the run and fighting for their own survival, in what can be described as “one of the most […]
