RETURN OF THE CONDOR HEROES: Tsui Hark To Adapt Jin Yong Novel Into Trilogy; Fan Hopeful Lin Gengxin May Star

Lin Gengxin in SWORD MASTER Word has it that actor Lin Gengxin is a possible front runner to lead famed Hong Kong director Tsui Hark’s newly confirmed adaptation of classic literary, Return Of The Condor Heroes. The story is inspired by Jin Yong’s 1959 publication, the second installation of the Condor Trilogy which began in 1957 and has seen numerous film and TV adaptations, as well as its expansion into books and video games. Hark reportedly aims to adapt the book into a trilogy of its own while fans are expecting to hear of Lin’s attachment as Yang Guo, whose taboo romance with his sifu, martial arts master Little Dragon Girl, and their adventures in the martial arts world is central to the story. The action will be the biggest seller for writer and director Tsai Yueh-Tsun‘s ambitious new Taiwanese 3D blockbuster sequel hopeful, Black And White 2: The Dawn Of Justice. The film has already started getting a foothold of the press at home and with just a little over a few weeks left until the film’s release, fans have a new action featurette with speaking segments from the cast and crew, including Hollywood stunt coordinator, Jack Gill. At some point between now and April, former actor-turned-director Derek Yee began production for his latest return to familiar territory with the period wuxia epic, Sword Master. Arriving in 2015, the film is based on late Hong Kong author Gu Long whose work inspired Yee’s then-lead starpower in the original Shaw Brothers production, Death Duel (1977), which centers around a swordsman whose past catches up to him after he fakes his own death to escape the underworld. Written by Yee along with fellow producer Tsui Hark and co-scribe Chun Tin-Nam, Sword Master stars actor Kenny Lin in the lead opposite actor Peter Ho who plays his nemesis. Actresses Jiang Yiyan and Jiang Mengjie rounding out the cast so far listed. Filmgoers in Asia have another month or so before director Tsai Yueh-Tsun gets his day with the upcoming release of Black And White 2: The Dawn Of Justice 3D. So there’s plenty of time for its fan base to continue the hype for the new ambitious Fall blockbuster hopeful, and this week, the pitch continues with another brand new poster, which you can check out below: Black And White 2: The Dawn Of Justice 3D stars Mark Chao, Lin Gengxin and Huang Bo, who can now be seen in at least two new viral behind-the-scenes featurettes just beneath (no English subtitles, unfortunately). The explosive Taiwanese action sequel opens domestically on October 2, 2014.

Following director Tsai Yueh-Tsun‘s previous work on Black And White: The Dawn Of Assault, his next big effort with Black And White 2: The Dawn Of Justice is another bold effort to sharpen the equality of blockbuster action movies overseas. And so far, we’ve seen a teaser and featurette that helps showcase a little more of that effort, but largely toward the big scale of storytelling.
