IN COLD LIGHT: XYZ Films At Cannes, Cast Announced For New Crime Thriller

Maika Monroe and Oscar-winning actor Troy Kotsur have been cast as leads in the crime thriller, In Cold Light. Maxime Giroux (Félix et Meira, The Great Darkened Days) will make his first English-speaking feature, with Kotsur debuting in his first feature role following Sian Heder’s Coda. Here is the logline: “Ava is trapped. Like a bull in a bucking chute, seconds before exploding onto the rodeo stage. She is hunted. Pursued by those who killed her brother, pursued by her own demons. Ava needs to make a choice. To either save herself and fight another day or to push and become the woman she wishes she could be.” In the film, Monroe will play Kotsur’s daughter. L.A. based Capstone Global is joining forces with Wayne Fitzjohn and Simone Swart’s Nthibah Pictures, Alex Lebovici’s Hammerstone Studios, Sam Raimi’s Raimi Productions, Roy Lee’s Vertigo Entertainment, Stuart Manashil and Dan Kagan for the sales launch of Boy Kills World starring Bill Skarsgård (Clark, Atomic Blonde) who can now be seen in the official first look still above. In Boy Kills World, Skarsgård stars in the role of Boy, a deaf mute with a vibrant imagination. When his family is murdered, he is trained by a mysterious shaman to repress his childish imagination and become an instrument of death. HOT SEAT Heats Up In First Look From Mel Gibson Action Thriller

Highland Film Group is now offering a first look at James Cullen Bressack’s new action thriller, Hot Seat which you can view above. Mel Gibson, Kevin Dillon, Shannen Doherty and Sam Asghari star in the pic from a script by Leon Langford and Collin Watts, which has since completed production. Hot Seat centers on an ex-hacker who is forced to break into high-level banking institutions by an anonymous caller who planted a bomb under his chair at his office. Gibson plays the man who must try to penetrate the booby-trapped building to get the man off the hot seat. Randall Emmett, George Furla, Ceasar Richbow, Shaun Sanghani and Chad A. Verdi are producers. Highland is repping world sales on the pic with Lionsgate handling North American distribution through their Grindstone Entertainment label.

THE BLACK KAISER Signals The Return Of Mads Mikkelsen’s Hitman Role In ‘Polar’ Sequel

Swedish filmmaker Jonas Åkerlund will reteam with actor Mads Mikkelsen for The Black Kaiser, a sequel to Åkerlund’s adaptation of Victor Santos’s 2012 graphic novel publication, Polar which premiered on Netflix in 2019. Mikkelsen, whose recent credits partly include Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Anders Thomas Jensen’s award-winning Riders Of Justice and David Yates’s Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore, penned the script with Jayson Rothwell, is reprising his role from the first film with casting currently underway. Polar firstly saw Mikkelsen in the role of Duncan Vizla (a.k.a. The Black Kaiser), settling into retirement when he soon finds himself marked for death by his former employer.
