THE BLACK KAISER Signals The Return Of Mads Mikkelsen’s Hitman Role In ‘Polar’ Sequel

Swedish filmmaker Jonas Åkerlund will reteam with actor Mads Mikkelsen for The Black Kaiser, a sequel to Åkerlund’s adaptation of Victor Santos’s 2012 graphic novel publication, Polar which premiered on Netflix in 2019.
Mikkelsen, whose recent credits partly include Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Anders Thomas Jensen’s award-winning Riders Of Justice and David Yates’s Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore, penned the script with Jayson Rothwell, is reprising his role from the first film with casting currently underway.
Polar firstly saw Mikkelsen in the role of Duncan Vizla (a.k.a. The Black Kaiser), settling into retirement when he soon finds himself marked for death by his former employer. In The Black Kaiser according to the trades as announced on Thursday, “the Black Kaiser (Mikkelsen), the world’s most lethal hitman, uncovers a deadly conspiracy protecting a powerful syndicate of killers, and becomes their number one target.”
Jeremy Bolt and Robert Kulzer are producing the pic which hails from Constantin Film/JB Pictures in association with Dark Horse Entertainment. Exec producers are Mikkelsen alongside Martin Moszkowicz, Mike Richardson, and Keith Goldberg, and XYZ Films (upcoming God Is A Bullet, Accused, Nocebo, Hounds Of War) who will also rep worldwide sales rights at the upcoming Marche du Film.
