A sequel to Yuen Woo-Ping’s Master Z: Ip Man Legacy, is reportedly in the works according to the latest observations of the operator of Twitter handle, @AsianFilmStrike. Supposedly, the sequel’s budget will be substantially less than half that of the first film which stood at around $28 million; The film’s current global box office gross stands around $20 million according to Box Office Mojo. Well Go USA is just days away from its North American theatrical release of Yuen Woo-Ping’s spin-off venture, Master Z: Ip Man Legacy. The good news, also, is that folks over in the UK awaiting its release thereafter will soon have a chance to view the film for themselves at the Spring 2019 edition of the Fighting Spirit Film Festival at the Mockingbird Cinema and Kitchen at Birmingham on April 28. The film, featuring Max Zhang, Michelle Yeoh, Liu Yan, Dave Bautista, Xing Yu, Kevin Cheng and Tony Jaa, will screen right next to a small spate of winning FSFF shortfilm favorites, as well as Jesse V. Longtime actor and producer Raymond Wong took to the floor at Filmart in Hong Kong to launch Mandarin Motion Pictures, ripe with a slate still fresh with titles both new and pending. The move comes following Wong’s sale of Pegasus Entertainment to Nice Rich Group Ltd. last October, which Wong launched in 2009 with son, Edmond Wong, after establishing himself for years as a staple film producer of Cinema City’s Aces Go Places franchise, and with Mandarin Films in 1991 which served to produce the first two Ip Man titles. This brings us to at least one important title to keep in mind with actor and action star Max Zhang whose career has since begun spanning across the world from Asia to North America.
