The martial arts genre can be a thrilling one when it comes to movies. However, spectacle aside, every now and then it helps to get grounded a little more in what the overall practice of it really means, and we’ve seen that narrative several times in the past through different tones. This time, we get martial arts stars Don “The Dragon” Wilson and Cynthia Rothrock as they spearhead this newest effort in director Michael Baumgarten’s new movie, The Martial Arts Kid. Traditionz To Release THE MARTIAL ARTS KID In Select Theaters Next Month!

Finally on par for release following a successful Kickstarter campaign last year and several promotional appearances since then is director Michael Baumgarten’s new anti-bullying action drama, The Martial Arts Kid from Traditionz Entertainment. The film’s release will be aimed at establishing Traditionz as a staple of martial arts film production and distribution, here and now piloting with a cast and crew brimming with well-known names like Don “The Dragon” Wilson and Cynthia Rothrock, and T.J. Storm with actor Jansen Panetierre in the title role opposite Matthew Ziff. Produced by martial artists, producer James Wilson and company president and veteran Hollywood stuntwoman Cheryl Wheeler with a script by Adam Marsh, Panettiere leads the cast in the coming-story of a Robbie who moves in with his aunt and uncle in Florida following the death of his mother. Updates are abound now that production is underway for In The Blood helmer John Stockwell‘s current remake of the 1989 martial arts thriller, Kickboxer. Progress has had its share of stops and starts in the past year or so as a few major names departed from the project this month, but now we’re finally getting a grip on what lies ahead for casting thanks to social media. Actor Matthew Ziff, lately known for his upcoming appearance in the action-packed family drama, The Martial Arts Kid, recently took to Twitter and Instagram to share a few images earlier hinting on a “big” project. Director and co-writer Michael Baumgarten‘s newest martial arts family drama has been on the receiving end of an intense promotional campaign this year headlined by martial arts action stars Don “The Dragon” Wilson and Cynthia Rothrock. Following a successful Kickstarter campaign going into the summer, The Martial Arts Kid marks the latest film project for Traditionz Movie 1, LLC in conjunction with N.J.-based anti-bullying organization, Kickin It, a move that puts the film’s very theme front and center with leading actor Jansen Panetierre in the title role. There isn’t a release date set just yet, but the film’s push remains on-going as it makes an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con this year.
