Liam Neeson Is Circling MEN IN BLACK For Sony

Fish around long enough online and you’ll find some interesting plot hints for The Fate Of The Furious helmer F. Gary Gray’s latest reboot take on Men In Black. Whatever the case may be, expect Thor 3 actors Chris Hemsworth and actress Tessa Thompson to lead the cast for the Sony production as the studio looks to make this franchise a thing come at least by next year.

This now brings us to Justin Kroll’s exclusive at Variety which entails news of actor Liam Neeson now circling the role of the U.K. branch manager of the clandestined organization bent on operating in secrecy whilst monitoring and mitigating with extraterrestrial life on and around Earth. The role is in the same vein as that of the one played by Rip Torn in the original movies.

The report states this will be a pivot from Nesson’s usual hard-edged, seasoned action thrillers – although honestly, I wouldn’t mind seeing Neeson go Bryan Mills on some alien fools while we’re at it. I think that would be a superb topping on this sci-fi reboot layer cake.

Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are on board and producing along with Steven Spielberg executive producing. David Beaubaire is overseeing the film for Sony.

F. Gary Gray’s MEN IN BLACK Reboot Will Reunite Tessa Thompson With Chris Hemsworth

Fans who enjoyed the life out of seeing Tessa Thompson in Thor: Ragnarok can expect to see the actress reunite with the lead actor once more by next year. As The Hollywood Reporter noted on Wednesday with Chris Hemsworth set to officiate his casting, Thompson is already in place for F. Gary Gray’s forthcoming Men In Black reboot which will widen its U.K.-set narrative and casting on a global, ensemble scale.

Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are back as producers following the hit successes they earned from the original trilogy which had Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones headlining. Steven Spielberg is returning as executive produce the film with Iron Man scribes Matt Holloway and Art Marcum penning for a June 14 release next year from Sony Pictures.

Actor Chris Hemsworth continues to reign supreme among the cast of Marvel’s superhero saga as Thor this May in Avengers: Infinity War. Until then, you can also add Men In Black to the slate according to The Hollywood Reporter, with The Fate Of The Furious helmer F. Gary Gray tapped to direct the film as of early February.

Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald returning to produce the new film which transplants a diverse cast led by Hemsworth in London. Ready Player One helmer Steven Spielberg is also back to executive produce the sci-fi alien comedy reboot in its current form at Sony following the last several years of evolution as a potential forth installment, a crossover with the studio’s Jump Street franchise, and a previous version titled MIB 23.

Barry Sonnenfeld directed the earlier trilogy starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones as members of a covert organization of black-suited agents who mitigate and monitor Earth’s unseen coexistence with aliens while battling extraterrestrial foes. The films have grossed up to $1.5 billion dollars in total.

The Men In Black reboot is tentatively dated for a June 14, 2019 from a script by Iron Man scribes Matt Holloway and Art Marcum.

Sony Lands A May 2019 Release Date For MEN IN BLACK Spin-Off

More than twenty years later and well over $1.6 billion dollars in its wake, the hit Men In Black franchise is gearing up for a new spin-off with the involvement of Iron Man and Transformers: The Last Knight scribes Matt Holloway and Art Marcum. A May 17, 2019 release date has been stamped for the film as a search for a director goes underway following years of efforts that have since led to the currently-shelved ambitious Jumpstreet crossover, MiB 23 which is reportedly still being developed.
Barry Sonnenfeld directed the earlier trilogy headlined by actors Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones as members of a covert organization of black-clad agents who mitigate and monitor Earth’s unseen coexistence with aliens while battling extraterrestrial foes. Parkes confirmed the Men In Black spin-off telling Deadline, “It’s so rare to get to the end of the script and know you’re holding a movie in your hands – but Art and Matt have written a spinoff that somehow is true to the core of the MIB world, and yet expands the franchise to a fresh new place,”. Parkes is joined by Laurie MacDonald in producing the film with Steven Spielberg serving as executive producer and David Beaubaire overseeing for Sony.
