ROUND SIX: Lee Jung-Jae And Park Hae-Soo To Lead New Netflix Survival Drama

Netflix recently confirmed the additions of actors Lee Jung-jae (Svaha: The Sixth Finger, Operation Chromite) and Park Hae-soo (Prison Playbook, upcoming Time To Hunt) for Netflix original series, Round Six. The series, announced last September, is being directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk (The Fortress, Miss Granny, Silenced). This one’s a bit peculiar in that the show is themed around a game of survival in which players have to draw geometric shapes on the floor which ultimately form the shape of a squid – hence the show’s literal translation, “Squid Game”. That’s where Lee and Park come in, portraying the respective roles of the unemployed Gi-hun, and the beleaguered Sang-woo, both at the ends of their ropes and desperate for the 40-million dollar prize money that victory promises. A premiere date for the new series is currently pending.

Yoon Sung-hyun’s new dystopian crime thriller is at the center of a new lawsuit, and Variety has the details. Legal maneuvers be damned though, the producers at Little Big Pictures are proudly releasing the film on Netflix beginning April 10. Time to Hunt is a suspenseful non-stop chase film about four friends who are hunted by an unknown man, while they carry out a dangerous plan to get a fresh start in life. It was invited to the 70th Berlin International Film Festival for a special gala screening, which is the first time for a Korean film to be featured as such. Time to Hunt is one of the most highly anticipated Korean films of 2020, and marks the return to the screen of Yoon Sung-hyun, winner for Best New Director at the the 32nd Blue Dragon Awards for Bleak Night. ALTERED CARBON: Catch The First Season Rewind Ahead Of Season Two

It’ll be February 27 before anyone knows it. Alas, there is still a small window of time to catch up on the first season of Netflix sci-fi series Altered Carbon before its season two premiere, and the streamer is sharing a brief lookback reel doing just that. Picking up where actor Joel Kinnaman left off for season one, Anthony Mackie takes the stage as the new sleeve for timeless and ill-fated freedom fighter Kovacs, as he returns to life to solve more mysterious murders and ultimately reunite with the woman he loves. ONE PIECE Manga Lands Ten-Episode Live-Action Series At Netflix

A ten-episode live-action rendition of One Piece found a new home at Netflix on Wednesday according to trade news and a press announcement from the streamer. The news comes following word that broke in July of 2017 that a live-action series was in the works from Shueisha, and Marty Adelstein’s Tomorrow Studios, the same company involved with the current serial production of Cowboy Bebop – also for the streamer. A multitude of adventures outline One Piece which took off as a hit manga beginning in 1997. The franchise expanded itself greatly into television and original video animes with its story centered on Monkey D. Luffy and his epic, action-packed and sprawling quest to find said ‘piece’ and claim the title of “King Of The Pirates”. XTREMO: ‘Full-On’ Spanish Action Movie Movies Forward At Netflix With ‘Tracers’ Director

Following his parkour exploits on Taylor Lautner crime thriller, Tracers, director Daniel Benmayor is at the helm for Xtremo for Netflix, per reports on Wednesday from Variety‘s John Hopewell and Jamie Lang. All ten episodes are set to premiere on December 5 on Netflix from whom we now take a gander at the first series trailer. Dr. Luther Swann (Ian Somerhalder) enters a world of untold horror when a mysterious disease transforms his best friend, Michael Fayne (Adrian Holmes), into a murderous predator who feeds on other humans. Martin Scorsese’s new mob epic, The Irishman, is currently on its select theatrical run and will soon stream on Netflix beginning November 27. At the forefront of it all is actor Robert DeNiro, cast in the title role and joined by an ensemble that also has Joe Pesci and Al Pacino shepherding one of the more fascinating tales of the last century, all based on a true story. It’s also running at three-and-a-half hours and has had a stellar festival premiere this year prior to its release. I say it’s way better than the ridiculous Thundercats rumor which still continues to circulate the social medias like terrible memories of an ex that won’t go away – in any case, it’s the lead-off this week along with the newest trailer for the Michael Bay-directed action thriller about a team of rich people out to save the world from something terriblehorriblenogoodandveryverybad… Or something. Six individuals form a vigilante squad after faking their deaths in order to take down notorious criminals. All of them were brought to the team by its leader (Reynolds) for their unique skills and a desire to erase their past and change the future. December 13 is the date, y’all! Swedish action thriller Red Dot is in development hailing from SF Studios and Netflix. The streamer announced the film at the Stockholm Filmfestival as one of several titles they’re involved in from the Nordic region. It looks like Paramount’s Beverly Hills Cop franchise will finally get the reboot succession some fans have been waiting for with the latest confirmation from Deadline‘s Mike Fleming Jr. The studio is at the table with Netflix for a one-time deal with a sequel option also in play to revive actor Eddie Murphy’s iconic portrayal of sly, fast talking detective Axel Folely to audiences. Martin Brest’s inaugural 1984 feature launched a trilogy centered on the character whose hilarious crime-solving exploits saw the character frequent Beverly Hills all the way from his original station in the city of Detroit whenever he needed to solve a tangible case.
