Twelve years after Warner Bros. acquired the rights to Japanese comic book publisher Kodansha’s 1982 publication of author Katsuhiro Otomo’s six-volume manga, Akira, and two years since we still don’t have a live-action film. But for director and producer Nguyen Anh Nguyen, that’s just fine by him, with the reception he is currently receiving from his own inspired take on the property in the form of a brand new trailer-style fan film now circulating the internet in pure, buzzworthy fashion! If this keeps up, Hollywood might as well just give up and let Nguyen and his team take it from here. Just sayin.
