The last twenty-four hours or so have finally seen some assets floating around for director Camille Delamarre’s new action thriller, Assassin Club, starring Henry Golding in his return to the action genre following Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins. The film’s poster for its Romanian release was the first to be unveiled at some point along with a trailer you can now find online, although we now have a new, more English-oriented poster which Delamarre has shared on his social media page which you can check out just below.
Actress Noomi Rapace continues to be one of Netflix’s best investments. The latest move to set the example here once more comes courtesy of director Adam Berg’s brooding, vast journey into the dark, icy tumult that is Black Crab, written by Adam Berg and Pelle Rådström and based on the work of author Jerker Virdborg.

The last year and a half have seen great strides by Prometheus star Noomi Rapace whose latest stints in action cinema with thrillers like Unlocked and What Happened To Monday? are such worthy bookmarks.
Leave it to Dead Snow and Dead Snow 2 helmer Tommy Wirkola to set the tone accordingly with a dystopian tale that centers actress Noomi Rapace right in the thick of it all. What Happened To Monday is set to premiere on August 18 on Netflix and with a full-fledged trailer in its wake as of a week ago which I’m only just now catching wind of.
Michael Apted’s new film, Unlocked, took awhile before breathing life stateside. Lionsgate Premiere is making it official this week with the announcement of a September 1 limited theatrical and release date for the Noomi Rapace actioner along with an official trailer to boot.
After failing to apprehend the terrorist behind a Paris attack that claimed dozens of lives, CIA agent Alice Racine (Noomi Rapace) is forced to live in London as a caseworker. Unexpectedly, she is called back into action by her mentor, Eric Lasch (Michael Douglas), when the CIA discovers intel of another imminent attack. While “unlocking” the suspect, Alice discovers that the classified information she has uncovered has been compromised. Running for her life, Alice turns to ex-soldier Jack (Orlando Bloom) to prevent a lethal biological attack on the citizens of London.
UNLOCKED is an action thriller directed by Michael Apted and written by Peter O’Brien. Also featuring Academy Award® nominees Toni Collette (Best Supporting Actress, The Sixth Sense, 1999) and John Malkovich (Best Supporting Actor – In the Line of Fire, 1984; Places in the Heart, 1993), UNLOCKED will be released by Lionsgate Premiere in theaters and on demand on September 1, 2017.
Actress Noomi Rapace continues to bolster in the action genre a bit in the wake of her latest appearance in Unlocked and the forthcoming releases of heist thriller, Stockholm, and fantasy actioner, Bright. Her new addition to the movie, Close, will be front and center for buyers at Cannes courtesy of WestEnd per its recent acquisition though their female audience-geared WeLove banner.
Rapace will star in a role based on the life of the world’s foremost leading female bodyguard from a script by producer Rupert Whitaker and Born Of War helmer Vicky Jewson who will direct. She plays Sam, a counter-terrorism expert newly assigned to protect Zoe, a rich teenage heiress, only to find themselves on the run and fighting to survive following a violent kidnapping attempt.
Janette Day (Vanity Fair, Ghost World), Braden Aftergood (Hell or High Water, Lone Survivor, Battleship), Sarah Radclyffe (Les Misérables, The Edge Of Love), and producers’ representative Dennis Davidson will executive produce Close which rolls cameras in June. (THR)
The European Film Market is just a few weeks away while sales reps prepare their packages for buyers, so expect the usual swarms of headlines of acquisitions news to come. Sierra/Affinity will certainly be on hand with its own line-up of titles, one of which will be the forthcoming production of Stockholm, officially casting actor Ethan Hawke and actress Noomi Rapace.
More names are expected to be attached in the months ahead so keep your eyes peeled if heist thrillers are more your speed. The official press release is available below!

LOS ANGELES January 27, 2017 – Four-time Academy Award® nominee Ethan Hawke and Noomi Rapace will star in STOCKHOLM written and directed by Robert Budreau. Scott Aversano and Will Russell-Shapiro will executive produce and oversee the thriller via the Aversano Films banner along with Jason Blum via Blumhouse Productions. STOCKHOLM is based on the extraordinary true story of the 1973 bank heist and hostage crisis in Stockholm that was documented in the 1974 New Yorker article “The Bank Drama” written by Daniel Lang. The events grasped the world’s attention when the hostages bonded with their captors and turned against the authorities, giving rise to the psychological phenomenon known as “Stockholm Syndrome.”
“STOCKHOLM will offer moviegoers a raw glimpse into intense events that transpired over four decades ago coining a psychological condition that still intrigues the world today,” said Jonathan Kier, Sierra/Affinity’s President of International Sales & Distribution. “With Robert’s creative direction coupled with Ethan and Noomi’s tremendous talents, we are certain audiences around the globe will be captivated by this thrilling true story.”
STOCKHOLM will mark the second time Hawke and Budreau have worked together following the recent release of the critically-acclaimed BORN TO BE BLUE in which Hawke starred as jazz legend Chet Baker. In addition to BORN TO BE BLUE, Hawke has recently starred in THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, MAGGIE’S PLAN, BEFORE MIDNIGHT, as well as BOYHOOD for which he received an Oscar® nomination.
Rapace will next be seen in WHAT HAPPENED TO MONDAY, UNLOCKED and BRIGHT. Her previous film credits include the Swedish language GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO series, CHILD 44, THE DROP, DEAD MAN DOWN, PROMETHEUS, and SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS.
Prior to BORN TO BE BLUE, Budreau directed the Genie-nominated THAT BEAUTIFUL SOMEWHERE. He is currently developing a TV series adaptation of the short story CONSUMERS by Dennis Lehane.
Hawke is represented by CAA, MGMT Entertainment and attorney George Sheanshang. Rapace is represented by CAA, Magnolia Entertainment, and attorney Howard Fishman of HWHM+F. Budreau is represented by APA and The Sanford Ehrlich Company.
