OUTBREAK: Hyun Bin, Jang Dong Gun To Battle Zombies And Each Other In New Period Action Horror

One doesn’t usually think “zombies” when mentioning a Joseon period film. That genre is usually keen on feats of swordplay, war, drama and romance among others, so while as interesting as zombie movies can be in any time period, surely enough Confidential Assignment helmer Kim Sung-Hoon will have something for cinephiles and genre film fans to gravitate to by next year with his latest Joseon era thriller, Outbreak.

The film mark’s Kim’s third stint at the helm whilst reuniting with actor Hyun Bin for the production of the new period zombie thriller ahead of its 2018 release. Joining the two is actor Jang Dong Gun (No Tears for the Dead) starring as Kim Ja Joon, Minister of War and rival to Bin’s role of Lee Chong, a Joseon prince who is initially held hostage and returns to Joseon to fight alongside his elder brother, Crown Prince Lee Young in the wake of a deadly zombie uprising.

Rounding out the cast are Kim Joo Hyuk as Lee Young with actress Lee Sun Bin as archer Deok Hee and Jo Woo Jin as her older brother with Train To Busan co-star Kim Eui Sung as the King.
