The fifth Overlook Film Festival is just around the corner ahead of its June 2 kick-off and the full-line up is still available with more information at the website on how to participate. In the meantime, there are at least five titles that fans should look forward to in our curtain raiser below, including Phil Tippet’s long-awaited dystopian sci-fi magnum opus, Mad God, which is coming soon to AMC’s Shudder.
It’s been about a week since the fifth Overlook Film Festival announced its first wave with Scott Derrickson’s upcoming Universal/Blumhouse June thriller, The Black Phone, premiering on the festival’s closing night. This week, we have a second wave of titles headlined by the opening night premiere of Ana Lily Amirpour’s Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon, which has since been acquired by Saban for theatrical release in the U.S. later this year as of trade reports a few months ago.
The Overlook Film Festival has played a formidable role as one of the standout genre festivals to contribute to the festival community even as the pandemic chugged on. The festival is back for its fifth year starting in June and with more information at the official website, fans can now take a gander at the first wave of titles to make the rounds along with the festival’s closer, Scott Derrickson’s The Black Phone.
