An update over at Chinesemov was unveiled by some viral movement on Facebook earlier today showing the cast listing for director Jacky Wu Wing‘s upcoming commando action thriller, Wolf War. The film was titled Warg and Wolf in previous reports with behind the scenes footage showing Wu and actor Scott Adkins on set filming in camouflage uniforms over late summer in China.
Interestingly enough is that the cast listing also includes actress Yu Nan, who most recently made the spotlight in the all-star cast the 2012 blockbuster, The Expendables 2, and is also set to appear in Fu Huayang’s exotic all-female jungle action thriller, Angel Warriors this November. In addition, the film has also apparently cast actor Vincent Zhao, best known for his work in such action titles as The Blacksheep Affair (a.k.a. Another Meltdown), Wu Dang and Yuen Woo-Ping’s martial arts adventure, True Legend. Zhao is also less preferably known for the headlines he made in the past couple of years when he bumped heads with actor Donnie Yen over script changes for director Clarence Fok’s recently released Special ID prior to him leaving the cast and enduring an ongoing media circus that followed.
At any rate though, it’s good to see Zhao working again. And even moreso, with two of the action film industry’s most popular leading men, and a female actress with the talent to hold her own in an action flick. Now let’s just hope this production brings better prospects for this particularly intriguing upcoming war thriller when it arrives in 2014.
Actress and Pay Back co-star Deng Ziyi is also set to appear in the film. I suppose we will learn more about Wolf War in the weeks and months ahead, so stay tuned as the updates continue trickling through.
A new poster is now circulating for MTime.com’s documented October 10, 2013 domestic release date of director Fu Xi‘s Mandarin language mystery revenge crime thriller, Pay Back from Legend Pictures. The film garnered heavy attention back in late August when four other character posters made their way to die hard martial arts cinema fans who were also blown away by the new trailer that arrived earlier this month.
Pay Back sees actors Louis Fan Siu-Wong and Francis Ng in their respective roles as an ex-con and a taxi driver whose worlds collide, with one trying to solve his own attempted murder, and the other looking for the criminals responsible for the rape and murder of his daughter. The film also stars Deng Ziyi, Lam Suet, and legendary Asian cinema actress Cynthia Khan.
Stay tuned for further updates.
Update: An article posted at Twitch on 9/13/13 reaffirms Tony Jaa is still confirmed for S.P.L. 2, reaffirming rumors reported late last year.
Some posters trickled out for a new film coming possibly this month titled Pay Back (a.k.a. Hunting Enemies), a Mandarin-language uber-violent Triad thriller starring Louis Fan Siu-Wong leading the way with actor Francis Ng. The film is directed by Fu Xi and also stars Deng Ziyi, Lam Suet, in addition to the return of legendary Asian action cinema legend Cynthia Khan back to the big screen.
