Already hitting the trades and genre film forums, a first look is already out and about with featured actor Daniel Bernhardt (John Wick, Nobody, Skylines) for Raven Banner’s Deathstalker. The label launched world sales at the Marché du Film over the weekend with cameras currently rolling in Canada. A reboot of the late Roger Corman’s cult Sword & Sorcery film franchise, Bernhardt stars as the titular character revised by writer and director Steven Kostanski (The Void, PG: Psycho Goreman). Bernhardt portrays the barbarian who finds himself cursed by a magical talisman that draws him into conflict with a malevolent wizard and a clan of monstrous assassins. Corman’s films capitalized on the 80s fan fervor of films like John Milius’ Conan the Barbarian, with a similar collision of pulp fantasy and lurid excess. Kostanski’s new vision promises a greater emphasis on exploring the series’ fantasy setting and filling it with monsters […]

The film stars Arjo Atayde, Julia Montes, Kokoy De Santos and Sid Lucero, and is directed by Richard Somes.
Discharged from the army due to post-traumatic stress disorder, Miguel gets embroiled in a different kind of war when a drug peddler seeks his protection against a vigilante death squad. All the while he must confront his own demons in order to earn his redemption. That’s the thick of things laid out for director Richard V. Somes’s Triggered, his newest thriller fresh out of international sales label Raven Banner Entertainment with a trailer ahead of its Locarno screenings beginning Monday. Somes also co-wrote the pic with Will Fredo and Jim Flores with a cast led by Arjo Atayde in a role both that nods to soldiers still struggling home, as well as cosigns a return to bygone action heroics of yesteryear, as so reflected by Somes in Marta Balaga’s Variety exclusive on Friday: “I am really inspired by the 1980s action films. It all started with ‘First Blood’ or even […]

When the local merchant learns that his newest customer has eyes for his daughter, the disapproving merchant instead challenges Kayak to become North America’s greatest fur trapper in order to gain his blessing. Tews also penned the script with Cheslik, marking their latest reunion following Tews’ 2018 […]

Eight years of development and cultural edification, instilled enough to produce an independent kung fu feature that transcends the boundaries of comedy for a market not usually keen on controversy, now brings us to the forefront of the latest directing effort by debut film duo Augusto Soares and Andre Sigwalt with stoner martial arts romp, The Smoke Master. For this, we are invited to watch as an age-old vendetta begins to take shape for Daniel, (Thiago Stechinni) and his younger brother, Gabriel (Daniel Rocha) – prospective students of their surrogate father, Abel (Cleber Colombo) who is a Bagua Zhang master. The two routinely train together with other students at their local park where they are soon accosted by two thugs, and the harrassment only escalates further, until one day they brutally attack a classmate. The incident resulted in a near-fatal confrontation with the gang’s muscle bound leader, Caine (Tristan Aronovich), […]

He is insulated from the rough realities of life—until a vicious barroom beating sets him down a new path. Rob Tully also feels that his life is on a set course. A born boxer with natural talent, Rob trains with his father, Reuben, and his uncle Tommy, both of […]

Some of the films they have sent out into the world include TURBO KID, WOLFMAN’S GOT NARDS, DEATHGASM, and (most recently) PG: PYSCHO GOREMAN. So clearly, Andrew has a love of genre and he’s brought that affection with him to the director’s chair of the latest film release from Raven Banner, the splatter-punk fight fest, SPARE PARTS. SPARE PARTS tells the wild story of an all-girl punk band, cheekily named “Ms. 45”, who are kidnapped by a blood-worshipping death cult and […]
