Perhaps no one is as lauded, both personally and professionally, than Bruce Lee (Li Xiao Long). Well, Jackie Chan is a close second but that’s not the focus of this review. Where should I start? Having already been a fan of director Rob Cohen’s Hollywood treatment, I wasn’t too impressed and I guess because it felt a bit like excess for there to be another pseudo-fictional telling of the life and legend of the Jeet Kune Do founder and martial arts film star. Michigan-based independent production company Exxodus Pictures began promoting its latest fantasy action thriller, Jinn, just last month after years of keeping fans waiting. The film is currently geared for its April 4, 2014 release, it also turns out the company will be hosting a ticketed red carpet event in advance which will also be accompanied by Michigan native, filmmaker Ajmal Zaheer Ahmad. Coming Soon has unleashed a new clip from G.I. Joe: Retaliation featuring Ray Park and Byung-Hun Lee as Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow, respectively. The clip is similar to what we have seen so far in trailers, with both characters clashing in the same hallway leading to an epic battle between rival ninjas that will help determine the fate of the Joes as they clash with the COBRA forces once again. I’m thinking ninjas are pretty much the selling point by now. 🙂 The film, which is slated for a 2D/3D premiere starting March 29, 2013, also stars stars D.J. Like the previous trailers we have seen, including the French international teaser, the footage is mostly more of the same, but is edited with Korean subtitles. What is interesting to me so far is the distinct possibility that Storm Shadow, played by Byung-hun Lee could be siding with the heroes this time around, after his last appearance in the first film. Other than that, I am open to seeing how the film plays out when it hits theaters on its new release date, March 29, 2013, since the pushback of post-production to include 3D conversion, among other reasons.
