At one point around this time four years ago, award-winning industry stunt professional Christopher Brewster was riding high off of his well-earned successes leaping tall bounds and spin-kicking thugs on the rooftops of Hell’s Kitchen as Charlie Cox’s stunt double in Marvel’s Daredevil to add to his growing list of credits. It’s been a career that’s proven hugely beneficial for the former Team Sideswipe member who has since plied his trade as fight coordinator for Warner Bros.’s DC release, Black Adam, in addition to other Marvel projects as well as Universal’s vampire flick, Renfield. As of late, Brewster has also begun ramping up efforts to direct Relentless, the first in a two-pic co-prod and financing deal between Walk Like A Duck Entertainment and Renegade Entertainment. The film marks the second effort for Brewster to add on a feature directing credit to his resumè since he was tapped to direct zombie […]
This past holiday weekend, I found a 30 Rock marathon on television and I succumbed to the pull that is so strong on all long weekends: I made myself comfortable in my chair and I watched a lot of TV. No, this is not a 30 Rock review, but on one of the episodes, the characters are talking about the fear of choking to death alone and not being saved because they are single and living alone. At first, I laughed. But upon further reflection, there are any number of ways one could be severely injured at home and if you are living alone or are single, how long would it take someone to notice? How long would it take for help to arrive? What if it were something time-sensitive like choking and help never came? Does living alone increase one’s chances of dying alone? Or at the very least […]
Looking to whet your survival thriller appetite this Holiday week is director Barry Anderson’s latest, Relentless. Terror Films announced its acquisition of digital rights this week, featuring Rachel Weber for its multi-platform release November 27. In the film’s story, Jennifer (Rachel Weber) is living alone in a large, empty house while struggling with depression after a recent loss. She is trying her best to deal with the hand that life has dealt her. On the eve of a major thunderstorm, Jennifer accidently locks herself in the basement. As water begins to flood in and quickly rise, Jennifer soon finds herself in the ultimate fight for survival! Director Barry Andersson has talked about the challenges of filming, recently. Andersson says of RELENTLESS: “I loved exploring the basic idea of what we, as human’s value when faced with a personal tragedy. What do we hang onto and when do we need to […]
I’ve never really pondered the affect I might have as a blogger on people that I’ve been writing about in the past three years, and primarily because I’m just busy writing. I get mostly good responses from people in the stunt and film industry apart from some of the more less-than enthused ones (yes, those exist), and they’re all nice to hear in the course of my own growth, though for me there will always be a room for improvement. I thought about this and a bunch of other things as I shared reflections over some beverages at Starbucks at Columbus Circle with stuntman and actor Shayan Safar who was in New York City for a job interview unrelated to stuntwork. I’ve been covering Safar since early 2015 when I shared his first stunt reel online, and he told me how jubilant he was when he saw his demo being […]
It’s getting a bit more hopeless with each passing month that we’ve been left with lesser and lesser prospects of a Mortal Kombat feature film since its announcement in 2010. However painful that may be to many, director Kevin Tancharoen’s application to the last two seasons of Mortal Kombat Legacy brought plenty of attention from fans for a successful webseries between 2011 and 2013 before he departed any and all business related to the franchise, and then reportedly came back in early 2014 for a mystery project leading toward a possible third season. Well, its been many months since that report with Warner Bros. eventually breaking the news in a press release announcing an untitled Mortal Kombat series as part of their new digital production arm, Blue Ribbon Content. As it turns out, filming is expected to begin in Los Angeles sometime this month, if not already, and information linked […]
Time will tell if whether or not previous reports will forsee the return of actors Casper Van Dien and Mark Dacascos to the Mortal Kombat Legacy arena for a third outing. In the meantime, we now have news of their involvement on a new project from Greenlight Films, Emerald Films and Riucci Films, Relentless. According to Twitchfilm, Van Dien will lead as Charlie LaFarge, a former US Army Ranger on the run from the law and resigned to vengeance after being unwittingly swept into a feud between warring Russian and Thai drug traffickers, ensuing the theft of his boat, the brutal murder of his mentor, the kidnapping of his girlfriend and the malfeasance of a crooked DEA agent. Dacascos, whose slate has been loading up with various potential projects like Blood Raid and Baf Sjamsuddin’s Garuda 7 is currently in talks to join the production under Dark Power helmer John […]
